In Response to Pelosi, Mike Pence opposes removing Trump under 25th Amendment: reports

Vice President Pence opposed calls to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office following Wednesday’s a mob of Trump supporters' attacks on the Capitol, according to multiple reports.

Business Insider first reported that Pence would not back the move, citing advisers to the vice president.

Following the violent riots at the Capitol building Wednesday, a number of Republican and Democratic lawmakers urged Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment. The 1967 amendment to the Constitution ensures that the government remains in operation should a sitting president be deemed unfit to perform presidential duties.

A majority of the Trump Cabinet and Pence would have to agree the president is unfit to serve for him to be removed.

Calls for the 25th Amendment to be invoked came amid fears that Trump would incite more violence following the riots that damaged parts of the Capitol and left four people dead.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the 2020 election was “stolen,” from him and encouraged his supporters at a rally earlier on Wednesday to march to the Capitol and protest Congress's certification of President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College win.

"Not happening," said a Republican close to Pence when asked about the increased calls for him to replace Trump, according to Insider.

The New York Times later confirmed the news, reporting that a person close to the vice president said Pence is opposed to invoking the 25th with less than two weeks until Biden’s inauguration.

A senior Republican told the Times that Pence’s decision not to make the move is supported by several members of Trump’s Cabinet, who reportedly believe an effort to remove Trump will cause further instability in Washington, D.C.

So, impeachment it is then for Pelosi. What are the chances of removal under this? Do we have 2/3 of the Senate?

Trump should fire Pence, install Flynn, and do the EO

So asinine. They can’t and won’t do an impeachment in 12 days. This is all about pettiness.. kicking Trump on his way out the door.

RE: Trump should fire Pence

He does not have the power even if he wanted to. Pence was not appointed, he was ELECTED. Only voters can fire him.

They’re afraid of him, and the influence he will continue to have.

Please stop, dude.

The Vice President of the United States is elected. The President cannot fire him under any circumstances.

RE: They can’t and won’t do an impeachment in 12 days.

I think they can rush it. One day to convene and vote in Congress ( they have the numbers ) and then another day to bring it up to the Senate.

Whether Mitch McConnell will bring it up for consideration is another matter.

But it’s theoretically possible if enough idiots in both houses have the wills to do so.

In the meantime, forget the stimulus, the Coronavirus vaccine deployment and all other matters. Kicking Trump out without waiting for January 20 is more important.

You mean do THEY—the Left—have 2/3 of the Senate.

That many have to AGREE to removal.

We have a bunch of RINOs who privately hate Trump, but won’t because they’re rightly judge that the voters would obliterate them.

So no, I don’t think it will happen.

Whatever kabuki theater Pelosi and Schumer are planning will happen, but not Trump’s removal BEFORE 20 January.

And Trump always has the Nixon option, and Pence would do right to then pardon him (which I doubt), but I don’t think time is on the democrat’s side.

Yes but he can certainly threaten “Mother” and their children. I hear there may be a lot of that going around these days.

I want that bastard Biden removed for inciting the attacks on the White House as “peaceful protests”. I’m sick of this bs from a party that literally burned down the country.

In fact I think their constant incitement of violence caused the riot at the Capitol.
