RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Governor Northam announced that Virginia’s statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee was removed from the U.S. Capitol overnight.
A representative from the governor’s office was present for the removal along with United States Senator Tim Kaine and Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton.
For 111 years, the Confederate statue has stood along with America’s first president George Washington as Virginia’s contributions.
The two statues were added in 1909, which was 44 years after the Confederacy rebelled against the United States and was defeated.
erasing history....one statue at a time
They waited until after the election. Now why would that be?
How long before they remove Washington?
“erasing history....one statue at a time”
The US is the only country that I know of which removes its monuments from the past, without having undergone a ‘revolution’ first.
Interesting experiment and hard to see how it ends well.

"Statues in the US Capitol are henceforth RESERVED ONLY
for politicians who rape children and eat babies after wearing their faces."
In the novel "1984", Winston Smith works as a clerk in the Records Department of the Ministry of Truth, where his job is to rewrite historical documents so they match the constantly changing current party line.
Far too many of our elected representatives are yelling "I am Winston Smith" . . . and proving it.
...they had to do it overnight....great....and from what I have read this statue will be replaced by one of a young black female who no one knows anything about, but hey, what the heck....virtue signalling at its best...
Washington is next
Or Jefferson, Lincoln, or Teddy.
Was the Virginia governor wearing blackface during the ceremony? Was he resplendent in his Klan uniform? Perhaps they will put up a statue of “Doctor” Jill Biden.
Communist on the march.
Anything you feel compelled to do under cover of dark of night on a weekend is suspect by nature. Also... “after the Confederacy rebelled against the United States” should read “after the confederacy seceded.”
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
― George Orwell, 1984
I have no problem with a Lee statue, and am disgusted they are taken down...
....however....
I am surprised he would be in the US Capitol building...Did not Lee wage war against said capitol? Doesnt seem appropriate in this case. Virginia this is the best you could come up with? Why not put up Jefferson?
Amen. They’ll want to replace it with yet another statue of Robert Byrd, former Klansman and “conscience of the Senate” (what a telling statement), or maybe Ted “Swimmer” Kennedy, that great (hiccup) statesman. Robert E Lee had more honor and integrity in his little finger than the entire current Congress has together.
