Committee assignments are one of the least eye-catching parts of politics, but they’re also one of the most important ways in which actual political power is wielded. Certain committees in the House, like Energy and Commerce, Ways and Means, and Appropriations, have outsized influence and money power....
But in a surprise, last-second Steering Committee meeting on exclusive committee assignments Thursday, which was scheduled at 10 p.m. the night before, centrist Democrats put on a show of support for Rice and against AOC, in what looks to have been a process-defying attempt to keep AOC out of the seat....
After Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) called for a vote on the two candidates came an unusual outcome: Rice crushed AOC 46-13.

They ought to find a way to expel her from the house.
AOC shouldn’t worry, in the next congressional session, they will create the Former Bartenders Who Couldn’t Pour a Drink Committee. AOC will be a shoe in for that.
the takeaway I got from reading the article is that I saw Koch backing Dem races
it was a secret ballot: congress critters only support people that they hate or are afraid of if the person is going to find out about it.
Reckon the dims are trying to keep the “grown ups” in charge....if there’s such a thing in their party.
“Looks like AOC is not going to get a seat on any of the powerful committees.”
The deep state used her and her three comrades to bring in the leftist votes. Just like they use minorities in every election and in return the voters get crap.
And they are way too stupid to understand that simple fact.
AOC is still adjusting to her new gig; servicing her customers in the men’s room for better tips isn’t really an option amy more.
The seats come with money....she loses some bucks because of her big mouth.
Pelosi silently gloats. “Fixed your wagon, didn’t I, my little Troublemaker?”
moderate dems think that her extremist agenda got a lot of them exterminated in November.
Does she have to give the $2k dress back?
She refuses to pay her annual dues to the party, to the tune of like $200,000. I don’t blame her. But this may be part of the reason.
If she keeps getting re-elected, she’ll figure it out and turn into a playah, too.

"Hey Lexie, why don't you be a doll and go fix us some drinks?"
They successfully got Socialists to vote for a guy who was the biggest lobbyist for Credit Card companies with the promise that he would forgive student debt despite being one of the major figures in making it impossible to discharge student debt in bankruptcy court.
And they'll successfully flatter most of these morons for thinking that mandating every board of directors has to have a LGBT and POC member is a huge win for the working class.
Darn, there goes our best opportunity for comedy relief for the next Congress.
Seems AOC isn’t very liked by her own party. She should learn their all backstabbers only there for their own good.
