I agree. I wonder of that’s how the flipped Roberts, putting him in fear for his life and the lives of his family?
I also wonder whether the other justices actually know what happened to Scalia? They must have some inkling.
“...putting him in fear for his life and the lives of his family?”
Family....Pretty certain that certain “shenanigans” occurred in the adoption of his boy (Jack Roberts) and that is all the leverage they need.
Not at all.
Trying to 'enforce' a Republican form of government it totally contradictory to the clause.
You just contradicted your first statement.
Yup. That seems like a pretty clear path for both the SC AND the bad guys.
These state legislatures could pick a Biden slate of electors.
First off, those kids are both about 20 now. What's going to happen? They're gonna be sent back to an Irish orphanage? Second, if that was the case, why wouldn't conservatives have the same leverage over him?
The SC may rule that the state house in each state will have to choose the electors for that state, and it could mean the state decides to split up the electors however it sees fit after reviewing their states election, or the state could give them all to one candidate or the other, but the SC is not going to determine who gets the electors.
...... OK ..... Times up ...... Anybody hear if the states responded within the time period alloted ..... 3pm Thurs????
...... Well .... Oops ...... That explains why I have been a day early for all of my appointments ......
Heheh. Been there.
That kind of treason should be taken care of by the people ASAP, I will furnish the rope.
Maybe this Texas lawsuit is a Hail Mary pass with more defenders is the end zone than receivers. What do we have to lose?
I think it's a good case. It really gets to the guts of federalism and the deal the states made as a condition for creating the federal government. If the feds screw up, the states can amend the constitution out of existence.
But you also believe that court rulings are likely to be based on a desired outcome. If that is the controlling principle, it may not matter how good the case is.
Absolutely true. I remember looking at FL law beforw the Fl Supreme Court decided the case. The law is slam dunk. Florida Supreme Court cherry picked the law to get the outcome they wanted, Gore wins.
Scales cam off my eyes in that moment. Courts are fundamentally dishonest institutions. Outcome first, rationale second. Look at the politics of the judge, that is THE controlling principle. They are more political than politicians.
They are minors (16 years old) so yes technically they could be sent back. The point being however, he was open to extortion these past 15 years.
Second question......Any number of reasons:
1. They don’t have the proof in hand but the left does.
2. They don’t believe in extorting one of their own.
3. They deep down don’t disagree with the vast majority of his decisions.
4. etc.
No, they're not. One is 19, the other 20.
The point being however, he was open to extortion these past 15 years.
But the accusation is that he's being extorted today.
1. They don’t have the proof in hand but the left does.
Then they're incompetent.Especially since he was vetted for the court after the adoptions, which one would think would uncover anything wrong with the adoptions.
2. They don’t believe in extorting one of their own.
But if he's doing the bidding of the liberals, how can he be considered one of their own?
3. They deep down don’t disagree with the vast majority of his decisions.
Or maybe, and I know this might sound crazy, but just maybe there was nothing improper about the adoptions so there's no leverage there and Roberts votes the way he does for other reasons.
Seriously, the sheer number of vast conspiracies that some people believe to be operating simultaneously are starting to become absurd.
