Goya Foods CEO Bob Unanue says sales spiked so dramatically after her calls for a boycott that he named Democratic New York Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as “employee of the month.”
Unanue told Michael Berry that his sales spiked 1000% after Ocasio-Cortez supported calls to boycott Goya Foods in mid-July.
How did @GoyaFoods CEO Bob Unanue (ooh-NON-new-a) respond to AOC’s threatened boycott of his delicious foods? Well, he named her “employee of the month” for helping increase sales. Interesting man, & unafraid to speak of faith, family & patriotism

I had never heard of Goya until the controversy. Now those are the beans I buy when shopping.
“””Also try to buy Australian wine to help them while China tries to cripple their wine industry with huge tariffs.”””
Good point. I need to add to my Barossa stash.
I might add. The Aussie conservatives are very concerned about what could happen in the USA political wise. So any support we can throw their way will be much appreciated by them.
Nice thumb in the eye, there CEO. Well done.
I agree.
I grew up on Goya products because they were the best.
Every time I go in the store, I pick up Goya.....and I don’t even need it but I’ll continue doing it.
Their tins of squid in its own ink and calamari in marinara (or better yet, hot picante sauce) are an excellent source of protein on Orthodox Fasting days.
Either eaten straight up or mixed with rice or pasta!
I usually use dried black beans and make a pot from scratch. In a pinch a can of Goya black beans, chicken broth, garlic, oregano and salt/pepper followed by some vermouth then simmered down makes a darn good meal. If I have some on hand I’ll add either ham or cooked bacon.

Hey, Freepers at the pace we are going Free Republic can expand its market to be the political and culinary place to be!!!!
remember when obama won EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH for 4 years straight from the Gun retailers association? This is just a perfect example.
Same applies when fat michael moore said NOT to watch AMERICAN SNIPER.
I love it an American Cuban troll......epic🤗
During the first slander of Goya (which launched sales), my wife stocked up on Goya beans, spices, and rice meals. She noticed the dirty look from Democrat types.
She used to be a liberal Democrat - until Antifa and BLM destroyed her hometown of Seattle. Now she hates Commies, wants me to kill one for Mommy.
Thanks! I’ll have to try that!!!! Normal, we buy fresh squid. But we eat Goya beans, especially on Orthodox fasting days.
The store in which we usually shop has a whole Goya aisle, so they must have those products too. And of course we want to support Goya, since they support President Trump!!!!
A tin of GOYA with a pouch of equally politically incorrect Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice...lunch in less than 2 minutes for less than $5.00.
Sounds delicious.
same.
I did buy extra Goya products after she opened her big...and I mean big...mouth.
Ha-ha!!!!
Just bought some Goya hot sauce today.
I am too. And with a fried egg on top, it's simple but yummy.
Wow! I never thought of vermouth in beans......the wife is a bean-o-holic. Black beans, chickpeas, kidney beans, pinto beans, baby lima beans. I like the Great Northern Beans with a dash of Liquid Smoke, then left to simmer a little bit. And I don’t know anyone around here who doesn’t like BBQ beans. Down here in Alabammy, a lot of people add diced green bell pepper to theirs. Caught me off-guard when I first tried it, but it’s delicious. And a chunk of country bacon or fatback swimming in there is almost mandatory.
