I learned from Don Boudreaux this morning that Walter Williams died either this morning or last night. For those of you who don’t know, he was a long-time economics professor at George Mason University.
I’ll have more to say later but I want to give one appreciation.
Walter liked smoking and he also hated the TSA. Some years ago, the combination of no-smoking regs on planes and intrusive groping by the TSA caused him to vow never to fly by commercial airline again. When he received offers to give speeches that were far enough away that driving was infeasible, he negotiated for a private airplane to take him there.
Was he the one who said he got his wife a pair of cleated shoes for Christmas so that she wouldn’t slip when she was cleaning the ice off his car?
Don’t know how old Walter was but am beginning to believe more and more that “only the good die young” especially when I look at the most evil people who are very old and still rocking along endlessly.
oh hell yeah
the democrat plantation is alive and well
Maybe?
LOL !
He was 84. Thomas Sowell is still with us & I think he is 90+.
He started downhill after his wife died. He really loved her, by the number of jokes he included her in. God give you rest, Walter.
A very sharp man with a great sense of humour. He will be missed.
My favorite professor of all time - and by far.
He had an elegant way of analyzing human behavior in terms of the laws of economics - and was a master at demonstrating how our behavior is affected by individual liberty - or lack thereof.
His lectures, books and commentaries taught millions of conservatives how to think straight - and I really don’t think that is an overstatement.
His lectures were so mind-blowing that I actually used to invite my college friends to attend class with me. It was like going to a rock concert.
Great sense of humor too! Once he said he gave his wife a snow shovel for Christmas!😀
He was an Army vet and one of the few good guys of the civil rights movement. All around decent chap and may he rest in piece.
When Rintintin posted earlier about the “late” Dr. Walter Williams I had no idea....was it a mistake? Sadly it’s not and my heart is heavy.......what a magnificent human being and I pray for his family and am blessed to have been living in his time. RIP Dr. Williams......;(
Yes from time to time
“Here’s an episode of Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser, from Nov 1991, featuring Dr Walter Williams as special guest:

This is a gem of a find! Thank you for posting.
I remember that (and him) fondly
If I still smoked, I’d light one up and blow it toward the sky in his honor......
My favorite Rush replacement until Mark Steyn.
The person who reported it (Don Boudreaux) is a professor of economics at George Mason University in the same department where Walter E. Williams taught.
Oh no!!!!!
He just wrote another column and it’s printed on its weekly Wednesday slot!

What brave educated black writer am I going to access now?
:*(
But based on his columns, I'm pretty sure he voted for Trump. So...he ain't black.
Right?
And Mrs. Williams.
