I learned from Don Boudreaux this morning that Walter Williams died either this morning or last night. For those of you who don’t know, he was a long-time economics professor at George Mason University.
I’ll have more to say later but I want to give one appreciation.
Walter liked smoking and he also hated the TSA. Some years ago, the combination of no-smoking regs on planes and intrusive groping by the TSA caused him to vow never to fly by commercial airline again. When he received offers to give speeches that were far enough away that driving was infeasible, he negotiated for a private airplane to take him there.
She dies the same time, or close to the same time?
The one bright light in this is that Walt Williams MUST have made it in for the vote.
After all, he was still publishing columns even today. Glad Trump didn’t lose that vote.
Thanks Dr. Williams!
She died a few years ago.
Yes, he would fill in for Rush. He was hilarious, and an excellent teacher.
He will be missed.
Awww... Geez. Another awful loss. 2020 has truly been a horrible year.
That said, Prof. Williams is in a better place now. Prayers for his family and friends.
Rest In Peace, Sir!!
A great American! He will be greatly missed!
“Wow, what a punch in the gut. I am told that one of my heroes, Dr. Walter Williams, passed away. Walter had an enormous influence on me, from the time I was 13-years old; he was my first guest on Life, Liberty & Levin. I’ll discuss more tonight on radio.— Mark R. Levin (@marklevinshow) December 2, 2020”
Thanks Conservative! I had not seen this.
I always found him easy to listen to. Seemed like a genuinely nice person.
“Terrific guy Smart, witty
Long ago when he was substituting for Rush, he was talking about a Dim proposal to “tax” something Dims considered “bad” like ammo
So he said in this time of AIDS, we should tax homosexuality
Those familiar with his style will probably read that and LTAO”
I thought something similar with covid. Back in the AIDS hyperdemic they never suggested that gay men abstain from having sex or going to bathhouses. Geeze.
It was funnier in the original Delawarian.
One of the few things better than Dr. Walter E. Williams subbing for Rush was when he brought Dr. Thomas Sowell in as a guest and they double teamed the socialists of the country.
What a great man—I am sorry to hear this.
His good friend Thomas Sowell must be sad today.
According to the loathsome Biden.
I assume that you know that Dr. Williams was not white and forgot a sarcasm tag.

Rick & Bubba sit down with American economist Professor Walter E. Williams of George Mason University to discuss the state of our economy and the national debt — and some advice for President Trump.
Dr. Williams dives into the differences between capitalism and socialism and speaks on the education decline in our country.
So sad.
“Didn’t he fill in for Rush or someone?”
He was my favorite substitute teacher.
