As early as August, the DOJ had been investigating the White House in an alleged bribery for pardon scheme.
And THAT’S the most critical thing the DOJ could find to investigate. /s
The easiest path to having a Constitutional question reviewed by SCOTUS was through the PA District Court case, which Rudy botched. He did not just botch it, be made it irreversible.
So, I am more suspicious than you.
As to who it was that was seeking the pardon, it is hard to tell. It could have been big name political cases like Stone or Flynn. Or it could have been some common criminal like Joe Exotic.
I am also puzzled by the fact that the court memorandum says dozens of tablets and phones have been seized. But I don’t recall anything about that in the news.

Why would you think that? My first thought was something along the lines of a Kayne West or that tiger guy camped out in Trump hotel hoping for attention - or some other person campaigning/lobbying for pardons for the imprisoned

He should pardon them. The problem is, the court record is under seal. The only released documents are heavily redacted. He can’t order the judge or DOJ to identify the suspects.
But everyone agrees, blanket pardons for his inner circle and all their support staff would be wise.
Another approach: If Barr is removed and an honest AG put in, then maybe the whole investigation can be immediately halted, and, in the interest of transparency, the file be unsealed.

I am not sure I agree with your conclusion. The Memorandum Opinion refers to the person seeking the pardon as having surrendered to BOP custody. This sentence makes me wonder if Paul Manafort is involved.
I think his name has too many letters.

Oh wait. Now you want Trump pardoning everyone. But if they didn’t pay it’s hardly worth the effort right? I mean Trump’s a businessman he’s not just handing those pardons out for free right? And Trump’s really gonna need the money from those pardons because his two incompetent lawyers Powell and Guiliani will probably fall down trying to defend him. It’s just chaos out there.
If someone wanted to set up POTUS, Manafort would be the way to go. POTUS had sympathy for POTUS, so POTUS would likely have pardoned or commuted Manafort’s sentence anyway.
Someone on the inside could generate a bunch of incriminating emails, and then rope in POTUS as a supposed co-conspirator.
