“I signed up for a trial through the VA. We’ll see if I’m chosen. The country needs this thing gone whether it’s as serious as the media says or not, it need to disappear.”

This will never “disappear.”

Of course it won’t be mandatory but you will have to show proof of vaccination to get on an airplane, go to sporting events, apply for a job, etc.

I watched a movie on HBO the other night, Contagion. It's nine years old but very prescient.

At the end of the film after a vaccine becomes available, people wear wristbands with barcodes that can be quickly scanned to show proof of vaccination.

I suspect something like these are in our futures.

Many corporations will make the vaccine a condition of continued employment.

It would require specific legislation banning that practice to keep it from happening—imho not likely.

You miss the point entirely. Covid will never go away. This is not about a cough virus that affects .2% of 80 year olds

Cute

It will be a public/private partnership in which companies mandate your proof of vaccination with papers

Most states have religious exemptions. We refuse vaccines made with aborted fetal cells. My 9 healthy children (Half are adults) have never received a single shot. They have none of the health issues I have suffered as an ex-soldier who received too many vaccinations. None of their great grandparents received a single shot in their lives. They all lived into their 90s

To me the issue of the vaccines is connected to the issue of Regeneron (monoclonal antibodies). The latter is what Trump credited for “curing” his case of Covid. And a couple of days ago Regeneron was to be distributed nationally “tomorrow.”

So it seems that people who are reluctant to get the vaccine might take comfort in the availability of Regeneron - defeating the purpose of the vaccine by reducing public acceptance thereof.

Trump has promised Regeneron will be free, but if there is any issue of adequacy of supply of it the public must use the vaccine in order to tamp down the need of Regeneron.

IMHO the published standard must therefore be that anyone who takes the vaccine but gets Covid anyway should go to the front of the line to get Regeneron. And anyone who passed up an opportunity to get the vaccine should go to the back of said line . . .

Covid will never go away.

No, but the people who are most susceptible to it will go away. That has been the net result of every pandemic in the history of mankind.

On thing that has changed is that we have several effective treatments for Covid that can save all but the most severely ill - if the treatments are started early enough.

On the other hand, the political authorities have had a taste of absolute power to control the lives of others by inspiring fear of the epidemic. They won't permit effective treatments because that would diminish their power.

The authorities are not going to give up their new-found powers voluntarily or peacefully.

Sorry Senator,

the market will force everyone to get vaccinated

want to work...vaccinate
want to travel...vaccinate
board a plan...vaccinate
and on, and on...

businesses that don’t require employees to be vaccinated will have to answer to their customers/clients.

They won’t need to legislate it...the market will demand it.

Rest assured, he's only doing this so he can do one of two things:

1) Pretend to be conservative enough to win elections in Oklahoma

2) Really, be on both sides of any given issue so that he can flex around as needed according to his own sleazy sense of situational ethics.

That's what sleazy, carpetbagging Baptist politicians from Texas who move to a neighboring state with a higher percentage of Baptists, ergo a better chance of getting elected, do.

So it seems that people who are reluctant to get the vaccine might take comfort in the availability of Regeneron - defeating the purpose of the vaccine by reducing public acceptance thereof.

Regeneron's antibodies will not only help heal infected people but also convey immunity to uninfected, but for a limited amount of time - maybe 3 months. Hopefully those airlines and cruise lines that demand vaccination will accept proof of a recent antibody treatment.

Many will be spooked about the vaccine but Ok with the antibody infusion.

Hoping there are megagallons of the antibodies soon.

Quantas, yeah, who the hell is gonna want to go to Australia when you have no chance of enjoying a nice vacation?

Australia was Mother Nature's Killing Field pre-COVID. Pass.

Our company stopped the temperature scan a couple of months ago. Now employs have to sign a daily sheet saying they are feeling well.
Crazy thing about the temp scanner: cheap Chinese gadget with no specifications from the employer. Like what is the acceptable temperature reading? What is the “above this you must go home” reading?
No one could answer that. Our HR girl said the temps are all over the place. 92-94. No one ever had a temperature over 94.
My Fluke thermal indicator meter is a hell of a lot more accurate but management said that’s not a medical device! Ha haa, the cheap piece of junk from China is not either, yet you are using it. So there you go!

Good, because it will not be safe and effective to mandate forced vaccinations.

Signed up for a trial with the VA?!

I am very sorry for you. I suggest you study the issue a bit first.
