This says there were fewer flights than 2019. For Delta and others, middle seats are blocked off and not allowed well into next year. So if it were 2019 with that restriction, no virus, but the restriction, you would have many more flights scheduled to move the 33% of pax who could not be in middle seat.
So that alone would increase the number of flights by 33%, indicating not really very much about how many want to fly. Flight count of course has to increase with seat assignments restricted.
The truth will be in the TSA numbers. In general they have been down 65% from same day 2019.

Total numbers for the month are about the same if you compair Thursday is turkeyday tuesday and Friday is turkeyday wed.
Airlines either have to move aircraft every day or put them in warm and powered standby or cold standby or month long storage status. Sitting at a gate for more than an overnight is still a huge charge compaired to pulling it out to parking. Perhaps each aircraft in an airline might be gaining a empty leg this week to postion for a near zero day Thursday.

If the limited number of flights were sold out or priced higher the travel load would be reduced.
