China will strike back against any moves that undermine its core interests, its foreign ministry said on Friday, after U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Taiwan “has not been a part of China”.
China calls Taiwan the most sensitive and important issue in its ties with the United States, and has been angered by the Trump administration’s stepped up support for the Chinese-claimed yet democratically ruled island, such as arms sales.
Speaking in a U.S. radio interview on Thursday, Pompeo said: “Taiwan has not been a part of China”.

I have work colleagues in Taiwan who are very concerned.
They should be.
I would be terrified.
Just tell China the $1+ trillion dollar debt from the US financial help prior to the Cultural Revolution is on Taiwan to repay, but on China if Taiwan is truly a part of it.
Let’s sell Taiwan missiles called Chinese Navy Ship Sinkers.
Taiwan hates mainland China. We had CCK flights to Taipei and CCK as rewards for SOG on 130 blackbirds. The NCO’s knew Taipei was a ripoff. Us officers knew zip. SF NCO’s know far more.
I’d give Taiwan 2 weeks. Maximum damage wouldn’t bother the Chicoms because they don’t care about casualties. North Vietnam kicked their butt in 79’. Perhaps India would distract them more belligerently. I do know that the Chicoms are building a wider road to Viet Nam for attack purposes. Hong Kong declares independence.
