Gov. Kate Brown on Friday announced the most extensive set of restrictions since her March stay-home order -- once again closing some businesses and restricting social gatherings -- in an attempt to slow the rapid spread of coronavirus across the state.

She will limit all bars and restaurants to takeout only, close all gyms, prohibit indoor and outdoor gatherings to no more than six people from two different households, limit capacity at grocery stories and pharmacies, and allow churches and faith groups to accommodate indoor crowds no larger than 25.

As far as federal Covid money is concerned, these states expect a Corona Virus relief bill to give aid to the states and cities, to be a major order of business by the Biden administration.

New York City is short by at least $9 billion, and Cuomo in New York state said he’s got about a $30 billion budget deficit to work on.

It seems clear the Democrats were expecting that a Democrat presidential victory, paired with Democrats controlling both houses of Congress, would grease the skids for a multi trillion dollar bailout of states and cities.

And if the Republicans in the Senate become “obstructionist”, you can just hear the squealing now, that the heartless Mitch McConnell wants children to starve, people to die, states to go bankrupt, if he doesn’t agree to a Democrat steamroller of trillions to states and cities due to the virus.

Thank you for referencing that article ChicagoConservative27. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"-- in an attempt to slow the rapid spread of coronavirus across the state."

Not only has PDJT repeatedly indicated that one reason for rise in COVID-19 cases is that more and more people are being tested for it every day, but also consider the following.

Problems with COVID-19 testing include false positives and tests that are too sensitive.

Here’s some articles about false positives.

Here are a couple of references for non-contagious cases of SARS-CoV-2

Artificial lighting urbanites might consider including vitamins D3 and C supplements in their diet to help fight COVID-19 and flu in my non-medical opinion, especially since sunlight hours are getting shorter.

Insights welcome.

Masks are stupid, but not a hill to die on. Your business, your rules. You want me to wear one, i’ll wear one.

The government shutting down businesses is a whole nother matter.

And it is NEVER for “just” two weeks....

Stretches into months and months, with no discernible effect on the spread of COVID-19 Wuhan virus, which has thoroughly permeated the environment.

The disease is deadly to only a very small part of the total population, the rest have at worst a bad cold with nasal and lung congestion that lasts maybe ten days to two weeks. Protect that small really vulnerable part of the population, and let the rest of the people go about their business.

Turn and face the dragons. They are mostly phantoms that prey on vulnerabilities, not all of which are physical.

allow churches and faith groups to accommodate indoor crowds no larger than 25

This one is senseless unless one is a control freak. Why not go by a % of capacity, or people per sq. foot of floor area?

Yeah, Elon Musk got tested 4 times @ the same time (I guess within an hour or two), same machine, same nurse, etc. Two positives and two negatives. He’s pretty hot about it.

Inslee hasn’t, as of now, announced anything close to the severity or specificity of Brown’s new restrictions. But he might Monday.

M-F’ers just announced that the Oregon unemployment tax that I pay on behalf of my employees is going up from 0.7% to 2.6%. Gotta pay for all those unemployment checks from the few of us left who have employees.

"Kill the economy so people demand more solutions from the government. Raise taxes to fund those solutions. Grow agencies charged with implementing those solutions. Advocate that government take over “essential” parts of the economy to assure equity. Explain how the crisis requires unity and radical changes to daily lives."

Looks like you copied your post out of Atlas Shrugged.

True that on the other restrictions that Brown is implementing — I was just calling attention to the two week quarantine Inslee and Newsom have ordered in lock step with Oregon and yes, next Monday could be Inslee trying to one up his neighbor to the south.

Your business, your rules. You want me to wear one, i’ll wear one.

The point is that whether they “want” you to wear a mask or not isn’t relevant. They are TOLD, at the point of a gun, that they must make customers wear a mask. I’ve spoken to many merchants who wish this weren’t the case, that the masks are stupid. But the choice has been completely removed from their hands if they want to remain open.

See my tag line about your point about hills to die on.

Ok all you families with more than 4 kids living at home, here is a chance to give one or more to the state to take care of. Be sure and dumps the biggest eaters first.

Ok to be honest there are not as many homes with 4 or more kids as there were when I was raised but there are people who foster kids where that may still be true, or maybe your family are living with and caring for older parents.
