AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texans have already cast more ballots in the presidential election than they did during all of 2016, an unprecedented surge of early voting in a state that was once the country’s most reliably Republican, but may now be drifting toward battleground status.

More than 9 million ballots have been cast as of Friday morning in the nation’s second most-populous state, exceeding the 8,969,226 cast in 2016, according to an Associated Press tally of early votes from data provided by Texas officials.

Texas is the first state to hit the milestone. This year’s numbers were aided by Democratic activists challenging in court for, and winning, the right to extend early voting by one week amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"No way this unprecedented enthusiasm is favoring Biden"

No, but some of it could be anti-Trump. You need to be realistic.

"My worry is the people that left California. Wondering if the majority were Republican’s?"

I know a number of people that have left California, some to Texas. Every single one of them was conservative.

Do you think California's Lefties enjoy the utopias of homeless drug addicts that they've created? They most certainly do not. So they'll blame President Trump, move somewhere else, and bring their voting habits with them.

Northeast undesirables have been doing the same to the Carolinas.

“Is this further evidence of the enthusiasm gap for Biteme Biden?”

If there are already more votes this year than all of 2016 it is hard to take this as a decline in enthusiasm for either candidate.

It’s simple.

The press is hyping it up for ratings.

First polls close, they’ll call nearly every state for Trump. Second set, more Trump. By about 10:00, they’ll be calling the whole thing for Trump with a massive win.

They’re doing it for the ratings. They know they’ve lost.

When they do a “poll” and they find that Biden’s handling of Wuhan Coronavirus is preferred over Trump’s 92-2, that’s not a poll. That’s propaganda.

I think hate usually is the bigger motivator in elections. But I still think Trump will win. Not certain but that's where I'd bet. But landslide numbers? Not likely.

If I were walking out of a polling place and someone was taking a survey... I’d lie to them because it is NoneYa.

I voted the first day of early voting. I wouldn’t trust mail in voting. I heard there is an FBI investigation in houston for vote harvesting in Harris County by Dallas Jones. Can’t verify it. Just tossing it out there

Why do they think the early votes are for Biden? Texas is a solid Red State.

Well... That’s just Austin... I’m sure the other Democrat strongholds are also “voting early, voting often”...

The Dead Turn-out has been really on-point this year.

Huh?

Oregon - which is what I was quoting in my post - has returned 82.6% the number of votes returned in 2016.

If you’re saying there are “already more votes” on a nationwide basis.... That’s not what I posted. I was only talking about Oregon. It seems you didn’t read my full post.

I was referring to Texas. Early voting is more than prior early and Election Day voting.
