New Yorks ultra-rich are quietly preparing for civil unrest on Election Day by hiring armed guards to stand watch over their luxury Manhattan buildings.
At the Time Warner Center on Columbus Circle, where the penthouse is going for $62.5 million, managers are deploying off-duty cops with submachine guns to stand watch, while other wealthy city enclaves are also beefing up protection for residents.
Everybody is worried about security, an insider told the Post. Every top building is adding security. Its out of control. We hope it wont be needed, but we will be ready.
The building is working with the NYPD and Homeland Security, the insider said.
There will be officers with submachine guns, the source said. Weve always had immense security, but there will be more. Well have extra patrols. The entire building can be shut down with one button.
Many buildings are hiring off duty cops instead of private security companies because they fear a repeat of Denver, where a private guard shot and killed a protester, said one real estate insider.
Added another luxury building board member said high-end residents have been warned to take precautions by the NYPD.
The NYPD is advising buildings to get the extra security, the source said. Theyve never done this before.
Other top buildings, such as 220 Central Park South, which is home to hedge funder Ken Griffins $238 million condo, say they are already well guarded but will take extra precautions, like keeping entrances locked at night, and only open to residents.
Other billionaire buildings, like 432 Park Avenue, are discussing what extra measures to take this week, a resident board member told the Post.

And.....if they don't shoot, how do they keep these fanatics out?
Preparing for rioting conservatives, eh?
They simply ask them to leave....In Oregon,a 911 operator told a woman they were short on cops and could she ask her boyfriend to leave...He was literally breaking down her front door at the time.....He didn’t leave, she had no help,no gun and he beat her within an inch of her life....Yeah,asking thugs to leave really works....
If it really gets that bad, I would think the off-duty cops would suddenly be called on-duty.
If they are not called on-duty and it really gets that bad, will they defend Manhattan or go home to protect their spouse and kids?
As a veteran, I’ve seen the kind of security used when nuclear weapons are being moved. A guard surrounded by sandbags manning a belt fed machine gun would go a long ways towards ensuring a friendly reception.
Someone want to explain how “off duty” police can have a sub-machine gun?
And all the tenants in these luxury buildings will vote for democrats.
Disgusting hypocrites!! These are all anti gun limo liberal scum. I am all Theo houses burn with all their shit in it.
In Sturgis SD you could always tell when the air force was moving a missile through town.
Friken nasty damn helicopter would show up first, humvees next, missle trailer more humvees.
Humvees would go along ways to protecting the rich
And the average private citizen can also arm themselves? Not in NYC.
The Denver case looks like liberal reporters had their liberal security guard egg on conservatives to get a staged photo. A conservative finally maced the guy, and the liberal shot him. That’s conspiracy to incite violence.
Why don’t they hire peaceful BLM types?
If Manhattan burns.......... will anybody really care?
NYC is the locus of political evil
If Biden wins look for a National Police Force, something Obama had talked about. My guess similar to the Nazi SS.
if they are OFF DUTY, how can they carry NYPD SMGs???
Just as in all socialist governments, under the Kalama...I mean Joe administration, law abiding citizens will have their 2nd Amendment arms taken away yet the politically and wealthy elites will still have armed security.
“A guard surrounded by sandbags manning a belt fed machine gun ‘
Makes a lot of noise.
Big New York City rats, with lasers, mounted on their head!
And lots of them.
Hope those poor guards are clear on the rules of engagement...
