Broadcaster Joe Buck has been silent since he and his broadcast partner Troy Aikman were caught on mic during Monday Night Football appearing to slam military flyovers at sporting events. Aikman backtracked on those comments on Twitter the very next day, but Buck said nothing at all.
It turns out Buck’s silence wasn’t a sign that he was abandoning Aikman, but rather an effort to try and make the whole thing go away. On “Daddy Issues,” his podcast with actor Oliver Hudson, Buck finally commented on the whole kerfuffle and explained exactly what happened. Buck and Aikman laughing at military flyovers, plus Aikman saying they would no longer happen on a “Kamala-Biden ticket,” appeared to be a hot mic situation, with neither knowing they were actually being recorded while they were talking.
On the podcast, Buck said that it definitely wasn’t a case of them blabbing into a hot mic. “Here’s what people don’t get. They say that this was an open mic or a hot mic. It wasn’t. This was before our rehearsal. So this wasn’t like ‘Oops, we’re on, I can’t believe I just said that, oh my God we’re on.’ That’s not what happened.” So what actually did happen? Aikman wasn’t caught in a moment of scalding honesty, he was actually being sarcastic and imitating a close friend from their FOX NFL crew while he and Buck were joking around before the broadcast.

After 52 years i stopped watching NFL football last year.
I saw it. It did not come across as sarcasm to me. Just saying.
When was the last time any of you look up at a flyby and said, “What a waste of gas”. Or “ There goes your taxpayer taxes at work”. ?????
I do not watch US Sports anymore - ESPN - or the like — they can all go to hell !!! Football, Baseball, Basketball — screw them — let the teams disband - and the thugs that play on them go unemployed — they can go deal drugs and commit crimes since they think they were treated unjustly... They are 1 step away from failure and are not in a position to lecture he rest of us because money is thrown at them and cheap overrated shoes, bats, and balls... screw them — all of them!!!

Wrong if you refer to Aikman or Buck. True if you refer to their liberal fried whom they were mocking. Aikman denied it citing his support for military.

the next generation will not be football fans. They are into video games, short attention spans, don’t like concussions, and now their parents are not watching NFL any longer.
No one is permitted to say anything off the cuff any more. We must completely think out everything that falls out of our mouth for fear that someone reading those comments, after the fact and without context, might be offended.
I guarantee that no one reading and commenting on this crap could possibly withstand such scrutiny.
