Broadcaster Joe Buck has been silent since he and his broadcast partner Troy Aikman were caught on mic during Monday Night Football appearing to slam military flyovers at sporting events. Aikman backtracked on those comments on Twitter the very next day, but Buck said nothing at all.
It turns out Bucks silence wasnt a sign that he was abandoning Aikman, but rather an effort to try and make the whole thing go away. On Daddy Issues, his podcast with actor Oliver Hudson, Buck finally commented on the whole kerfuffle and explained exactly what happened. Buck and Aikman laughing at military flyovers, plus Aikman saying they would no longer happen on a Kamala-Biden ticket, appeared to be a hot mic situation, with neither knowing they were actually being recorded while they were talking.
On the podcast, Buck said that it definitely wasnt a case of them blabbing into a hot mic. Heres what people dont get. They say that this was an open mic or a hot mic. It wasnt. This was before our rehearsal. So this wasnt like Oops, were on, I cant believe I just said that, oh my God were on. Thats not what happened. So what actually did happen? Aikman wasnt caught in a moment of scalding honesty, he was actually being sarcastic and imitating a close friend from their FOX NFL crew while he and Buck were joking around before the broadcast.
This is going on before the anthem. Were rehearsing and joking around, which Ive done and every broadcaster does, Ive done it for 30 years. ... Troy, in the microphone, is repeating something that he heard the night before from ... an unnamed person on our crew, saying this person happens to be very far-left

Actually, that’s the way I took it. He was commenting negatively that a “Harris-Biden” administration would end flyovers. As in, they’re not patriotic people. It was telling that he named Harris before Biden.
I think I believe this ... I surely do want to believe it.
I thought that it was sarcasm (which I use frequently) the first time I heard it.
Since I rarely watch feetsball I don't give a fat rat's ass what two over paid talkers say to each other in the privacy of their bedroom or the men's room or the broadcast booth or where ever else they are intimate.
Joe and Troy, hmmm?
So why didn’t Troy say the same thing.
Gotta get your stories straight boys.
The truth is easier to remember.
The Harris/Biden comment was a dead giveaway. Not that I really give a rat’s ass.
If so they should come right out and
said they were being sarcastic. Hoping
it goes away? Politics and patriotism
are hot button issues...what’s said
on air and on social media. If anything
they could have added, these flyovers
provide needed training for pilots. That helps justify the cost.
I don’t watch the NFL anymore, so I don’t care what they say.
I think he said he has no problems
with flyovers etc. But yes, good
point.Troy should have also said “I/
we were being sarcastic”. Only Joe has.
I agree. Some here like to jump on everything without seeing the blessings...
I believe them but they still work for an organization that condones kneeling for the American flag and black lives matter which is a Marxist organization and against everything good in the United States. So there’s still no reason to be watching them or respecting anything about the NFL.
He said Harris/Biden because hes too stupid to know which is which. As far as the your tax dollars at work crack, those fly overs are paid for out of training budgets. So again, they dont know their ass from their elbow.
They should shut their fn faces politically. Why not bust on the BLM presence. A terrorist organization is sponsoring todays game! At least thats truthful.
This is a mfg story to cover their asses. It took them 3 days to get this out? It should have happened the moment it went public.
Aikmen did say it was a waste of taxpayer dollars (which it is not).
Same here, but that was not what anyone else was hearing.
So the “boycott” wanes.
If they're liberals, then take them at their word and force them out of show business (i.e., sports).
If, however, they are well known for supporting conservative issues, then try to minimize the damage (without disavowing conservative principles, of course).
Besides, does anyone still watch ice hockey?
Regards,
Somebody check this with a BS Meter.
I dunno. Maybe some HR issues with mocking a lib. Im sure they werent expecting this much attention.
I believe it. If you listen carefully Aikman is using a funny voice when he makes the statement and he adds “pardner” at the end. Rush talked about this on his show, and said he’s met Aikman and couldn’t believe this was true.
