Published 2 hours ago Pollster Frank Luntz: If Trump defies polls again 'my profession is done'
Fox News ^ | 23 October 2020 | Caitlin McFall

Republican pollster Frank Luntz told Fox News’ Bret Baier on Thursday night, that his "profession is done" if President Trump wins re-election come Nov. 3, and proves the national polls wrong yet again.

“I hate to acknowledge it, because that's my industry — at least partially — but the public will have no faith. No confidence. Right now, the biggest issue is the trust deficit,” Luntz said in response to Baier asking how pollsters will fare if they are wrong in predicting the 2020 presidential election. “Pollsters did not do a good job in 2016. So, if Donald Trump surprises people, if Joe Biden had a 5- or 6-point lead, my profession is done."

National polls largely show Biden with a lead over Trump with two weeks until the presidential election.

Real Clear Politics, which pools together several national polls and takes the average, shows Biden up by 7.9 points, though in battleground states the former vice president is only up by 3.8 points – well within margin of error, which generally hovers around plus or minus four points.

Hillary Clinton was projected to win in 2016, with polling consistently similar to Biden’s.

FiveThirtyEight’s election project gave Clinton an 86 percent chance of winning during this point in the last presidential race. Biden is currently projected to win with an 88 percent probability.

Still, some polls appear to show a tighter race in their polling this time around.

The New York Times projected Clinton had a 91 percent chance of beating Trump two weeks prior to the 2016 election, but the Times is only projecting that Biden has a 50 percent chance of beating Trump.

But Luntz, a GOP pollster, still thinks that Biden will win the presidency after claiming that Trump won the second and final presidential debate Thursday.

Yes Frank, bad toupees are so 1975. I know
My 1996 model sucked and it’s time to park it in the dresser drawer where I parked mine in 1997.

First fo all he aint republican. He is a close friend and speaks highly of his good buddy, Steve Scull, the highly reguarded former debate moderator.y

I wouldn’t, how do I know it isn’t somebody trying to ferret out where Trump supporters live.

My viewpoint of the pollsters is this. They seem to be stuck in the old protocol of calling people and getting there opinion. As we all know most people refuse to answer the phone if it is an unknown number

If I were a pollster today I would be looking at the postings on facebook and see which side of the political spectrum was posting the most.

On Twitter I would be looking at the number of followers on each side of political spectrum. How many people follow Trump’s tweets vs Biden’s tweets? How many followers of Democrat vs Republican Governors, Senators, Representatives?

I would also look at political websites to see which side has the most viewers. For instance, how many hits does FreeRepublic get vs Huffington Post or Democrats Underground?

I think more conservatives are leery of pollsters than liberals, especially if said polls are associated with the mainstream media.

I’ve received text messages directed to me by name asking me to participate in an anonymous poll.

Nope.

Presumably the private inside polls are still accurate.

It's time for old Joe to cancel his fireworks order like Killary did before her beating. Old Joe's latest exhumation from the basement can only be described as sad. If you mute the teleprompter and just watch the body language it shows a plaintive loser facing defeat. The puppet string that hoists the used car salesman grin is broken. Unlike Trump, he's not having any fun. At the end of his eulogy he fumbles and drops his face mask to the floor.

Hey Duntz, if it is in the margin of error why is it 100% of the time showing Biden leading. That is statistically impossible so your profession is corrupt.

I got polled this year. At 1st the questions were general:
- Will you vote early or on election day?
- Will you vote absentee or in-person?
- Are you optimistic .................?

Then we got to the nitty gritty. Do you have a candidate of choice? Who will you be voting for? Finally, they solicited comments. Anything else you’d like to say? I said that I will not only be voting for Biden, but voting *enthusiastically* for my man!

Fat load Frank Luntz was emailing with Hunter Biden and brags that he declared Biden the debate winner in 2012 over Paul Ryan even though Ryan is Frank's client. These grifters need to retire pic.twitter.com/tLn9c89XFo— Patrick Howley (@HowleyReporter) October 21, 2020

The people at the Tech Giants have to know that the polls are off or else they wouldn’t be so quick to shut down those who disagree with their worldview.

Yet, it appears they are “forced” either by pre-conception or some other force to maintain their single-minded drive to oblivion.

Curious.

I can't believe any pollster could show their face after 2016.
