This was going to be the year that Halloween fell on a Saturday.
For the weeks leading up to it, Chanel Devereaux, a drag queen and longtime host at Nellie’s Sports Bar in Washington, would have lined up performances across town. She would have sewn more than a dozen extravagant costumes for other drag queens and painted scores of friends’ faces for the long-running High Heel Race on 17th Street in Dupont Circle and the Miss Adams Morgan Pageant. The month of October alone would have brought in about a quarter of Devereaux’s annual income.
“Halloween is what I affectionately call the High Holy Days of drag,” Devereaux said.
But almost all of those plans have been called off because of the coronavirus pandemic. Devereaux had already lost more than 90 percent of her annual income, ever since the District halted live performances in restaurants and clubs. Now, the most important time of the year for drag performers is effectively canceled.

Is it just me? This Covid hoax has “ erased” or “ blotted out” many, many activities that is not pleasing to God. That said, I can say the year 2020 has been a very blessed year for me and my family. ...and I do thank the Lord every morning and night for having been able to keep working 40 hrs a week, and being able to attend Church, life has been very good to me during the entire fear campaign....I will even take the liberty of saying my wife’s Cancer has been eradicated, I received much paid time off, was able to visit my out of state elderly mother many times, even found checks in the mail.... and many more blessings. Much Praise and Thanks to the Lord is in order, he keeps me strong and secure. Stay focused on the Lord, nothing else really matters.
But the larger point is that the liberal fascists trying to cancel Hallowe’en are anti-gay and all the rest of the lgbtqisx...whatever.

I know it’s the WaPo, but sheesh - restaurants are going broke, small businesses need loans to make payroll, people are missing rent payments, schools are closed - and what they’ve decided is worthy of national news is a drag dress designer missing his busy season?
I'll give you another good thing, just the parade of non-stop bs about Bruce, or Madonna, or KUWTK (cancelled), or Taylor -- every float on that garbage-scow parade has no engine pulling them along.
This is maybe the most mind-blowing part of the bug, Democrat Governors going after Democrat Restaurant Owners. I mean, maybe 1 in 10 in the midde- to high-end restaurant biz is pro-Trump. Maybe.
And yet Cuomo and deBlasio have just been unrepentantly merciless in driving them out.

The moved the “pride” month to October in my Texas city because of the June heat. How convenient.

As a performing musician, I’m already out of luck at playing live, but to then prohibit me from even listening to enjoyable music at a level where you can hear it OVER OTHER PEOPLE’S INANE CONVERSATION is just a bridge too far.
I bet if it’s some Communist Anthem they’d turn the volume up, though.

I love kids. On Halloween I like to sit on my stoop for a few hours and hand out all the candy myself.
For various reasons I ended up not having children but I do have nephews and nieces.
But I am very naive. God knows what the neighbors must think of a 52-year-old man sitting outside handing out candy.
with my luck one of the mothers will mace me for handing out a Snickers.
So; we've come full circle.
I wonder if they had ‘screamed’ about this earlier, if anyone would have had the guts to ‘cancel’ or ‘deter’ it.
