would become the United States.

Our Founders wrote our founding documents over 150 years
later. When our leaders decided to take action to become
the managers of our own affairs, they came up with
documents that would eventually do away with slavery.

“All Men are create equal...”

That was the goal going forward.

It is the height of absurdity to blame the United States
for a system it did not set up, and was powerless to stop
at the time of our founding.

Hundreds of thousands of White Citizens of the United
States fought and died in a war that freed the slaves.

Absolutely true. Prior to 1789, there were some “odd” political movements, but they didn’t amount to much and left little in the way of a legacy.

But the Jacobins were a big deal, and to some extent they have never gone away and they are still causing a lot of damage.

The date and premise of the 1619 Project are incorrect. Black slavery in the future United States did not begin with England, in 1619. It began with Spain, in 1526. A few days ago, I listened to a podcast that talked about Lucas Vázquez de Ayllón, a Spanish explorer who set up an unsuccessful colony in South Carolina in 1526. He had black slaves with him, though one of the goals of the colony was to enslave Indians.
