Im at a picnic this last Saturday with my buddy Natalia, who emigrated from Ukraine to the U.S. in 1990. Once a month, a group of Russian-speaking U.S. citizens like Natalia, now residing in and around the Research Triangle area in North Carolina, meet to eat and to converse in Russian. I don't speak a word of the language, however, all four of my grandparents were from Belarus, and that's close enough.
My Instant Education
Midway through the picnic, a senior lady clearly blurts out in English, If you want to return to Russia, vote Democrat this year. I am semi-stunned because U.S. politics is generally not a topic for conversation at such picnics and because I had no idea it was coming, in English no less.
Others quickly chime in. Each came to this country for its freedom, not to be told that classical music, composed by old dead white men, is racist. Several individuals in attendance think the idea of defunding the police is as ridiculous as they've ever heard. They believe that a strong military is essential and they should know; they came from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia, and Kazakhstan and are acutely aware of China's worldwide aspirations.
When they hear things such as Medicare for all, or free college tuition for all, it drives them crazy. Most of them arrived in the U.S. with very little, asset-wise, and worked their way to a position of financial stability. They know that when a politician says something is free that's a code word for somebody else pays.
Natalia Goes 180
I am astonished to learn that my friend Natalia, who told me when we first met that she is a registered Democrat, is also voting Republican this year. She said she's not for Republicans or Donald Trump per se, but she's against most of what Democrats seek. In the span of less than a year, she decided that the Democrat Party is supported by fools and racial-strife mongers.
It's all common sense she says. Why would you vote for a party that wants to raise your taxes, defund police departments, and release criminals from jail? Why would you vote for a party that treats Black Lives Matter like they walk on water and can do whatever they want to society? Who coordinates Antifa riots in one city after another, she asks, and then claims that it's right-wing groups perpetrating the violence?
Two of the 14 people at the picnic seem to be uninformed, and so the others school them. This goes on for several minutes. I can tell that the previously uninformed now will be voting Republican, at least for this upcoming election.
Voting Like They Mean It
The whole scene comes at me so quickly that its challenging to absorb it all. Here I am, with a group of people who I felt likely represented a 50-50 Democrat / Republican split. None of them are likely to answer a pollster or take part in a survey. None of them are likely to display political signs on their front lawns. None of them would be vocal at work or in some public setting. Yet, in our small group, out loud, they are airing their grievances about Democrats.
After a few minutes, I figure the conversation will turn to something else. To my surprise, these Russian-speaking, U.S. citizen picnickers keep it going. They rail on about how they didn't come to America only to find themselves in the midst of another socialist/communist country. I contain my amazement, knowing that when I get home I'm going to write the article that youre currently reading.
As we drive back, I ask Natalia how she was able to make the change so quickly. With that, she launches into a heated diatribe about all the ways in which Democrats have gone off the deep end. Again, I'm amazed. I hadn't considered that a registered Democrat could muster such objectivity. How many others are like her throughout the country, tens of thousands? Hundreds of thousands? Millions? I'm guessing it's millions.
Invigoration Plus
I come away from this event invigorated, and I had already been convinced that Trump would win easily. Now, I'm thinking landslide.
Biden is pounding Trump into history with misleading ads.
Open the health insurance “marketplace” two weeks early so people can contractually lock-in coverage and ignore Biden’s fearmongering.
Exactly Why Trump Will Win.
First reason...Trump is human. The opposition are merely skunk turds.
Because Trump has the LEADERSHIP SKILLS!
With all that is at stake, thinking or assuming Trump will win is a huge mistake. Go help him win.
I posted this on another thread.....
Trump is going to win. Why? Last election in 2016 at this time in October Real clear politics had Hillary up 5 points over Trump and Trump had the grab em by the p.. comment hanging over him and Hillary had just hired a bunch of whores to accuse Trump of sexual assault. All this was hanging over him only 3 weeks before the election.
Yet he won and won big.
Well look at today RCP has Biden with LESS than the lead Hillary had, and Trump doesnt have any scandals hanging over him, he has more support this election from blacks and Hispanics, and hes running against a ticket even more radical than Hillary, a ticket that is barely campaigning.
I think hes going to win and win YUGE.....
I pray Donald Trump wins, but anecdotal stories...
Very nice, but please no overconfidence.
Amen!
I see a lot of former democrats who are now Trump supporters. I’m talking about union guys I use to work with. What’s even more shocking is many of the minorities are also anti democrat. There are still some who support the democrats but a lot have turned because of the democrat supported riots. These guys are all middle and working class people. They don’t want to see this country destroyed either.
Yet he won and won big.
I disagree.. it was very close.
President Trump won by 36 electoral college votes - 13% beyond the 270 he needed to win.
But doing the math that way masks how razor thin his victory really was.
In each of PA and WI, he won by only 7/10ths of a percent!
In MI it was even closer just 3/10ths of a percent!
Had he lost these three states, Clinton would have won 278 to 260.
“I pray Donald Trump wins, but anecdotal stories...”
...which make sure to flatly declare “Trump Will Win!” or “All The Polls Are Wrong!” are great ways to get clicks for somebody’s blog post.
Ive talked to several Russian immigrants over the years. Id say a good 95% despise socialism. I marveled at how Leftism is a religion to those people.....ie they are completely immune to all facts and reason. They told me there were true believers in the Soviet Union but they were all old and by the 60s-70s it was clear to almost everyone in the Soviet Union that communism was a failure.
It is either an individual story or a poll of a 1,000 people.
Which one do you prefer?
Continue praying but start donating, your time and money.
“Which one do you prefer?”
Neither. I’ll either celebrate or cry on Nov 4.
“Continue praying but start donating, your time and money.”
I have made a standing monthly contribution to the Trump campaign for many months. I made an additional contribution yesterday.
Yes looking at this again, it does not look good at all. They have Biden up 10 points in Wisconsin which Trump won in 2016. How the hell can anyone even consider that idiot? The moron today said he’s running for the Senate!

I think the President will do much better this year than he did in 2016 - the polls are not worth spit.
