Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Sunday night promised that Democrats will not "supply quorum" for votes to advance Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation effort, essentially meaning that Democrats will boycott the votes in an attempt to stall the confirmation ahead of the election.
Schumer made the comments during a Sunday night press conference in which he also demanded Barrett recuse herself from any cases involving the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the presidential election. Schumer called the Barrett confirmation process "illegitimate, dangerous and unpopular," Sunday as Democrats ramp up their rhetoric ahead of the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on Barrett that start Monday.
"We will talk about when the actual vote occurs in committee and on the floor. Democrats will not supply the quorum," Schumer said. "Period."

Everything is scorched earth to these nincompoops.
Great. Bring her nomination directly to the Senate floor.
The Constitution says that the president has a duty to nominate people to the Supreme Court.
President Trump has nominated ACB to the Supreme Court.
Democrat response: “That’s unconstitutional.”
The Constitution says that the senate shall advise and consent to the nominee.
Senate Democrats refuse to participate in the process.
Democrat position: “It would be illegitimate, dangerous and unpopular” to do their constitutional duty.
I guess if Turtle wished, he could work around it by some parliamentary maneuver.
BTW, if these POSs had the majority, guess what kind of world we would live in.
Isn’t a quorum 50%+1? Isn’t there enough Republican Senators both on the Judiciary Committee and in the Senate Body to produce a quorum without a single DemocRAT?
There will have to be one Dem there to object.
Schumer is one of the slimiest people to slither around on the planet.
Some R’s have COVID from the assassination attempt.
If it were that easy, Dems would have deployed that tactic long before now.
The Constitution requires a majority of the members. 51 these days.
Stay home, Chuck.
That explains the reasons why the vote should be held in the Senate as soon as 51 votes are assured. It is high time the Republicans start fighting like the democrats.
I think it is a majority of members present, but I could be wrong.
Senate Judiciary Rules:
1. Seven Members of the Committee, actually present, shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of discussing business. Nine Members of the Committee, including at least two Members of the minority, shall constitute a quorum for the purpose of transacting business. No bill, matter, or nomination shall be ordered reported from the Committee, however, unless a majority of the Committee is actually present at the time such action is taken and a majority of those present support the action taken.
They’ll need to do something to get around this. I’m sure there is a way or the Dems would have been doing this all the time.
Yes, I think people with COVID should isolate. But I'm not afraid of being in the same room with them briefly. Keep a reasonable distance, wear your mask, do your business, and go home. I do to the grocery story a couple of times a week and run myriad other errands the same way. How many times have I been within eyesight of someone with COVID? By now, hundreds of times. Would I go out if I were diagnosed with COVID. No probably not, for most purposes. But to confirm ACB? Without hesitation.
You have to be really, really stupid to be a democrat these days.
Agree 100%.
Mitchie should tell Chuckie that if you won’t give quorom on the committee level, then he’ll simply skip all hearings (since she’s already had them on the appellate level) and bring the vote right to the floor later this month.
but I doubt he’ll do that. He won’t give Trump the satisfaction of that.
They can send out the sgt at arms to arrest them and bring them in
Lots of different votes and different quorums.
I think the quorum Schumer refers is just to whether the Jud. Committee can even meet for any reason.
Perhaps this just forces ALL R’s on the committee to be present. In other words, just a hurdle. Not a show-stopper.
Once a vote is called does every Senator have to be present. Cannot those actually present vote? What is a quorum? 51?
