Twitter executives have joined with those at Facebook to institute wide-ranging censorship policies targeting political posts they say falsely claim a win for any candidate. The embattled social media company announced Friday that it would add labels to posts that claim a pre-mature victory for any candidate and remove posts they believe interfere with the election process.
Vijaya Gadde, whose title reads Legal, Policy and Trust & Safety Lead, and Kayvon Beykpour, a Product Lead for Twitter and co-founder or Periscope, announced the draconian changes on the official Twitter blog:
People on Twitter, including candidates for office, may not claim an election win before it is authoritatively called. To determine the results of an election in the US, we require either an announcement from state election officials, or a public projection from at least two authoritative, national news outlets that make independent election calls. Tweets which include premature claims will be labeled and direct people to our official US election page.
Tweets meant to incite interference with the election process or with the implementation of election results, such as through violent action, will be subject to removal. This covers all Congressional races and the Presidential Election.
Holy moly @twitter went full fascist today. This is the day weve been warning about that Democrats said we were crazy for warning about. Make no mistake this is election interference from social media to help the Democrats.

You and I both.
Translation: Trump will not be permitted to say he won when all the dems are lying about how he lost.
Twitter, facebook, etc could care less about conservative sites and talk radio. Theyre not going to change conservative minds. They are going after the swing voters, the ones who get their news from social media.
Yea, the Presidency of the United States can’t just get on T.V and say that he won (if its not tweeted it didn’t happen). If they concern is people running with it let’s be clear. The moment the President claims victory everyone will have to deal with that. Period. He will be speaking on behalf of 60m people. That doesn’t just get swept under the rug.
My thought exactly. Their servers can stand only so much.
This whole election just seems like a conspiracy right out in the open. And we are somehow being shamed into not saying anything.
I don’t get my news from Twitter or Facebook.
National news outlets are authoritative? Independent?
Sure, they are.
It does sound dumb to state a certain candidate won before they did. This sounds like common sense. Im know thats in short supply now a days.
I doubt any of them will be on the radio at 8 oclock election night. Rush especially since his show is 12-3 weekdays.
No friggen right whatsoever, to do this. Seriously, Barr. Do your fking job.
They will find themselves rendered irrelevant as people tune into sources that ARE reporting the news.
Dummieheads
And this is why I come to FreeRepublic for my news. I trust my fellow FReepers will get the news out faster and uncensored unlike those criminal, leftist orgs called twitter and facebook.
JoMa
Same here.
You wonder how the human race managed without FB and twitter for so long, right?
Sheesh.....
Although I do have to say that as long as they remained uncensored, they did serve a very useful purpose. It was a source for info that the media did not control enough in 2016 for Trump to use it to his great advantage.
Easy work around, post just a picture of the President, no text of any kind, just a picture.
I suggest his official Presidential portrait.
Those patriots who have pages flood it to overload

Why are filthy foreign H1Bs controlling access to our information?
Vijaya and Kayvon are not your typical American names.
The media already dismisses right wing media, so there's no risk of losing reputation. But if they announce accurate results, they will be heroes to those on the right.
