This is pretty standard conservative Christianity. Associate Presbyterians, for example, limit participation in the governing Session to men. It’s following Biblical teaching about family relationships. Nothing weird about it. Secular media have no idea about Biblical teaching so they’re completely in the dark about it and think it’s sinister.

this is a sickening violation of the constitution (which expressly precludes any religious test for office) and is also a violation of at least the first amendment. it sickens me to think that there should be ANY disclosure of members of a legal meeting for religious purposes. it’s no one’s business when/where/how anyone worships. there should be a wall of separation between church and state, and the state should stop going over that wall! this is really an outrage.
