WSB radio just announced Trump will not participate in the virtual debate next week. That's all I have so far.

One thing which concerned me was the announcement from the debate commission that they’d like the ability to turn off a debater’s microphone.

If that was attempted in an auditorium, Trump could still be heard. But if it was a 100% virtual debate, and the moderator turned off Trump’s mike, then the President would be denied the ability to rebut.

I would guess that the risks for a virtual debate were too high to accept.

Since when does the CPD get to unilaterally decide debate rules without agreement between the candidates. The last two debates have been moderated by someone thoroughly in the liberal tank with one-sided questioning, really bad questions and biased time keeping.

for instance have you see one question where the Biden side is forced to state what they would do differently on a named key issue from what Trump has done and why? And then allowed the Trump side ample time to rebut? NOOOO???? And why the eff is that [because the dems have no valid policy alternatives is why, we all know]. As many private citizens have commented, that is the thing that is missing.

The commission is pissed at him for the last debate. They think Trump needs the debate more than the Commission needs Trump.

The format of the “debates” suck. They have for years. There is nothing “fair” about them. There is nothing “impartial” about them.

Trump should simply keep going to the people, and leave the press out of it until Biden has a press conference. Clearly the media is biased, why deal with them.

This comes right after Pence trounced Kamala in last night’s debate giving the momentum to Trump/Pence. Trump always does great in townhalls so no way is Biden going to put himself in a situation where he has to think on his feet. Trump should have his own townhall with Hannity or Maria at the same time. Would Fox go along?

For what it’s worth, while I fear we are losing this election I do not believe in averaging polls. We have a poll that said Trump was ahead by one point. We have a poll that says Trump is behind by 14 points. Does that mean the true answer is Trump is behind by 7 points? What if he’s actually ahead by 1?

Prove to me that people were actually called and polled people on the phone. Couldn’t they just make up the numbers Prove? Have the courage to know your enemy. If they ever go in the direction of shutting off microphones, it needs to be like a chess clock — each candidate gets 40 minutes. No more. No less. Moderator gets 10 minutes to ask questions. The clock is ticking while you speak. You stop your clock when you turn off your own mic. Or someone else shuts you off.

I think it is a fair observation that Democrats always get more time to speak than Republicans. If the moderator gets unilateral power to shut off mics, this disparity will become more extreme.

The president should call out Joe Biden on Twitter and challenge him to a debate without a moderator. You know, the same way that Biden calls out Trump and asks him to meet him behind the gym... “Biden, just you and me - mano y mano.” We can bring up any topic we like.
