Which modeler is that? I seem to remember that it has been discredited.

“Look” isn’t the best way to begin a rejoinder.

You are correct that the specific arguments you listed have not been made in this thread... Your insistence that the “questions being slipped to Biden” argument is the only point that has been raised seems frivolous and argumentative.
More impactful is the fact that Biden’s “team” has all the advantage on presentation; control of the topics to be discussed, Biden’s ability to remain seated and comfortable during the debate, and avoidance of any un-prepared responses to questions from the debate audience, against the virtual format stripping President Trump of all of his perceived strengths; his ability to actually think, his forceful presence, along with his ability to go off script and challenge the basis of the question when that’s necessary.

The media-machine, already clearly shown to be in Biden’s corner controls the imaging, the audio, the timing of responses... That’s not a format designed to give those rare undecided voters a balanced or accurate view of the candidates or their policies.

In my opinion, only a fool would concern themselves with whether or not the media will accuse Trump of being arrogant, that he shoots from the hip, or that he is a bully. Those accusations will be forthcoming without regard to the debate format changes, or Trump’s response to it, or tomorrow’s sunrise. The media will not present this President in a positive light.

The moral point of view is the only point of view. Either you stand for something, or you fall for something.

IMO, it’s not necessary for the Commission and the campaign tho communicate. They’re of one mind.

The result: a 90 minute Biden infomercial free of charge to the Biden campaign.

...with PDJT counterprogramming with a rally.

Is there any doubt which will get better ratings?

Good for Trump to not be played. Next he needs to demand impartial moderators. And if they can’t do that, then he should pick his own. One of each.

This is not the end of the negotiation - this is just the President showing the CCD Car Salesman his back - showing he doesn’t need to buy a car today.

I think POTUS should invite Biden to a real debate moderated by Lou Dobbs and Larry Elder - which Biden will decline.

Put the ball is in Biden’s court.

Frankly, I think the challenger needs the debate and the incumbent can take it or leave it.

Regarding the polls - they are worrisome, but I think worrying the Republican candidate is the real strategy behind oversampling Democrats in these push polls - not “demoralizing the base” in hopes they will give up and stay home.

The real aim is to scare the Republican into shifting away from his conservative bass to attract moderates. This always worked on RINOs like McCain and Romney.

I don’t think Trump is falling for it.

The Left wants to control the discourse by controlling the means of discourse. We see it in the MSM, we see it online with Facebook and Twitter and Instagram. We see it in the streets with Antifa and BLM. We see it in the schools at all levels.

The Left can't win an argument unless it's rigged.

Joe is afraid. Joe is too old and frail to be president.

Of course. But the media will spin it the other way, that the president is afraid of Biden. Like clockwork.

Exactly so. Can they find a moderator anywhere who’s not deep swamp RAT?

Excellent point. This is not PDJT's first rodeo with a hostile audience, media, or negotiation.

PDJT has got this. If someone feels the need to worry, let them worry about holding up their end of the board.

“However that runs counter to all of the polls averaged by Real Clear Politics.”

On the other hand, it makes sense if you take the position that those polls are designed to SHAPE opinion rather than measure it, and that Trump voters are reluctant to honestly answer a poll for justified worries of job loss, etc.

Interesting. Thanks for the benefit of your experience.

By those definitions I would posit that standing up and threatening to walk out is a counter offer. Then the negotiation continues.

Trump’s decision may be based on galvanizing the base. It is reminding the base how bad the media is. The extra voters he gets here may offset the undecided voters he loses. I hope he is right.

The point is he is not going to get what he wants. So, there will be no debate because Bidet is not going to agree to anything other than the “independent” commission suggests.

I suspect it's more of a "bi-partisan establishment" commission.

If he agrees to a virtual debate he’s basically endorsing mail in ballots.

....and endorsing the scamdemic.

” his war is for the hearts of the American voters. How does this advance that goal?”

Because the average person isn’t so dumb and would roll their eyes at the obvious problems of this virtual debate. Trump will have his mic and camera cut off anytime he is not directly given a 2 minute window to answer a question. Biden will have an Indy pit crew of handlers feeding him answers. No Trump observers will be allowed in Biden’s location. And last, the debate commission announced this without any coordination with the Trump campaign. And of course, we all know ALL of the regular guy questioners are dem party activists.

People will respect Trump for not getting bulldozed. Meek acquiescence would make people see him as weak. Better to be respected than liked.
