WSB radio just announced Trump will not participate in the virtual debate next week. That's all I have so far.

Edited to add:

Pres Trump: "I'm not going to waste my time on a virtual debate." Fox Business interview with Maria Bartiromo

Only fight on battlefields that you yourself have shaped.

Trump only needs a clear shot between now and November 3rd to run over Joe Biden publicly repeatedly definitively.
Biden us about ready to have his own medical event and I don’t think he’ll be the presidential candidate for the Democratic Party.

Who would pick the substitute candidate if he were to become permanently disabled or dead from a stroke?

Would it be Kamala Harris automatically or would it be somebody else appointed by the Democrat party apparatus??

Michael Obama.

And since face diapers are supposed to protect others from getting infected from you, they are saying that masks don’t work....right?

I got a call from a nurse contact tracer after a co-worker “tested” positive. I was asked about distance between us and length of exposure. I said “So you mean masks are useless?”

Crickets.

Virtual debate would be a joke IMO. Bidet could be a total animation, time delays built-in, etc. Fake like the “news”.

You don’t like the President’s reaction because you credit the polls. If polls were accurate and honest, President Hillary Clinton would be running for reelection right now. Better to trust your own instincts about the state of the race than the polls.

Virtual debate might be acceptable if they switched the moderator to someone who used to intern for Trump or maybe they each ask the other one questions so that there could be no possibility of preknowledge of the questions. So far the questions have been ridiculously biased and the questions NOT asked also revealing. Repeatedly asking about denouncing white supremacy but never about antifa, repeatedly asking if Trump will leave if he loses. These were asked and answered while important questions have never been asked.

Exactly.

The narrative will now be that Trump is scared to debate if he can’t do it in person and talk over Biden.

That’s what the news will say and what social media will say.

And frankly, that’s what it looks like. It will further weaken his election chances.

If he could just debate like a decent person like last night’s Pence performance, he COULD WIN THIS WALKING AWAY.

But, for whatever reason, he refuses to do it and take defeat from victory.

Agoraphobia! Has Hiden Biden developed agoraphobia?

Sure looks like it... and his handlers seem to be trying to cover it up.

Look, I can suggest a reason why Trump would reflexively reject the unilateral modification of the debate forum: a virtual debate tacitly ratifies the entire campaign posture of Joe Biden, the hiding in the bunker, the wearing of the mask, his criticism of Trump for holding rallies and not wearing a mask. It tends to suggest official recognition of the charges from the Biden camp that the 210,000 Corona deaths are Trump's fault.

I do not recall that those arguments have been made on this thread. They seem to me to be more rational than arguments that Joe will be slipped the questions because the debate becomes virtual. This argument seems to me to be more persuasive than it'll please his conservative base, we don't have to worry about that.

And Trump certainly does have to worry about courting charges that play into the narrative that he is arrogant, that he shoots from the hip, that he is a bully, that he rejects a commission's ruling intended to save the Americans' lives out of pique. He is 27 days before an election, he needs to appear in a positive light not as a sore head.

I think Trump is perfectly justified from a moral point of view in telling the commission to go to hell, my criticism is that it is not smart politically. I make the criticism not because I don't like Trump, it's because I want him to be reelected.

Why, do we now have to agree with everything completely to be here?

I have been here for 20 years and had to rename myself because I was an anti-Trumper.

I am not now and believe has done great things.

But, he has got to show some maturity if he wants a chance at winning over undecided voters.

I want to win this election. Don’t you?

Another modeler that has been right in every election for even longer said Biden will win.

Look, we can both point to experts.

Trump needs something to change the dynamics of this race.

Running away from debate doesn’t do that.

From Monday:

“The monthly Democracy Institute Sunday Express poll for the Presidential election shows that Mr Trump is still on course for victory with 46 percent of the popular support compared to his Democrat rival Joe Biden’s 45 percent.”

“This gives a projected Electoral College split of 320 to Trump and 218 to Biden.”

Read the thread.

You will find more than one reply by me which sites a potential turning of the polls in Trump's favor. You will note that my understanding of the polls comes from the most reliable source we have, Real Clear Politics average. No good general assumes the best, he is wary of the worst and proceeds to plan.

A review of the thread will also find that I pointed out that Fox just announce Trump up one point in Arizona.

A review of the thread will reveal that I pointed out that the Republican candidate for Senator in Michigan, according to Trafalgar, is doing well even, ahead. You will see that I thought that suggested that Trump was closing in Michigan.

I observed that Trafalgar polls were indicating positive "straws in the wind."

I credit the polls because Real Clear is our best source but I allow for the possibility that the contrary might be the case.

Spin, why give Bidet what he wants, no debate? No debate means Bidet has the media put out his massaged info unchecked.

Do I want him to win? VERY much so! A loss will mean people like us may very well have our lives in jeopardy.

However, I am going to go along with FReeper LS’s advice and be positive. I will NOT make any kind of allusions to our President losing from now until the election.

It would do well for ALL FReepers to follow LS’s advice and keep any thoughts of losing to themselves. Sorry I blew up.

"because it was announced before talking to Trump camp about whether these terms are acceptable. That in itself was rude, biased, and unacceptable"

😳 WOW! That really was rude, biased, and unacceptable on the part of the supposedly, laughably "non partisan" debate comission.

I hope this is part of some super great strategy that I just can’t see.

I assume that you are joking... President Trump giving legitimacy to a Demonrat rigged sideshow would be as stupid as stupid can be. It is bad enough that the “moderator” is a never Trumper and Biden will be given all the questions ahead of time.

I don't think it's a government body so I don't know how that would be done.

I think ignoring it is sufficient.
