Exactly.
The narrative will now be that Trump is scared to debate if he can’t do it in person and talk over Biden.
That’s what the news will say and what social media will say.
And frankly, that’s what it looks like. It will further weaken his election chances.
If he could just debate like a decent person like last night’s Pence performance, he COULD WIN THIS WALKING AWAY.
But, for whatever reason, he refuses to do it and take defeat from victory.
The monthly Democracy Institute Sunday Express poll for the Presidential election shows that Mr Trump is still on course for victory with 46 percent of the popular support compared to his Democrat rival Joe Bidens 45 percent.
This gives a projected Electoral College split of 320 to Trump and 218 to Biden.

I would disagree with your statement that President Trump could win this "walking away".
There is significant group of people in the bureaucracy and media that would be just as anti-Trump and do whatever they could to assure Trump is defeated even if Biden soiled his pants on the debate stage and started talking baby talk.
It is going to be a fight all the way, regardless of how well President Trump does in the debate.
And I believe that a virtual debate allows moderators who are less than objective to exert more control over the debate based on their bias. With that said, President Trump needs to present himself in an alternate venue that gets the most bang for the buck.
