WSB radio just announced Trump will not participate in the virtual debate next week. That's all I have so far.

Edited to add:

Pres Trump: "I'm not going to waste my time on a virtual debate." Fox Business interview with Maria Bartiromo

You think conservative turn out depends on doing a “virtual debate” with a hard core Trump hater as “moderator”?
If anything, not doing such a stacked “debate” will increase Trump's conservative turnout.

Trump should keep testing and announce by then that he’s had 3 negative COVID tests, so the town hall was cancelled on false premises.

.............

Great strategy

President Trump could easily win the kind of debate that Democrats are wanting with arguments that briefly counter each of the Democrat talking points followed by arguments showing what President Trump will do including a detail or two about each of the President’s plans.

Present good plans for the economy and jobs! Present good plans for freedoms!

Arguments about the epidemic should be avoided except for brief, positive statements about planned remedies (masks, etc., are too narrow interest). Dictators can force citizens to shut down economic activities, but we American people can learn and improve our own procedures and habits before the next epidemic and do it better than nations with dictatorships. We don’t need to damage our economy to unnecessary extents or give up more freedoms than necessary to deal with a disease.

Arguments about abortion (judge appointments) should be avoided (too narrow interest when compared to the majority of voters) in favor of arguments in favor of American freedoms. Don’t spend much time on issues that divide Republicans. We need to win the election!

I suspect most of the people here are grossly misreading Trump’s intention.

I’m guessng he is not backing out of a debate at all, but is instead rejecting a last minute proposed change to the debate format to a virtual one.

I wonder if the debate commission has the right to make this change without Trump’s agreement. I suspect not.

Hold them to the originally agreed upon terms of the debate, in person not virtual.

If Trump did agree to the virtual debate, he needs to livestream his end to a 3rd party website. 100% moderators will completely cut Trump off otherwise.

I think it is a fair observation that Democrats always get more time to speak than Republicans.

Actually in fairness, those who track these things noted that after Pence rolled past the clock, the moderator and heels-up the time count was pretty even. But Pence had to cheat like hell to get an even break.

Why SHOULD the President participate in a debate with the deck stacked in Biden’s favor?

I mean-what a sham. Do they think we are ALL ignorant?

Good. It’s a no brainer. If he agrees to a virtual debate he’s basically endorsing mail in ballots.

A virtual debate is a trap because it gives the media control of the audio/visual to cut Trumps mic and give Biden more air time.

You can’t be serious. Why would Trump agree to a stupid virtual debate? Who came up with such a stupid idea? Oh, right, Biden’s handlers. Maybe you can find a way to see your guy online, somewhere. Trump will probably do a rally instead 😍

The point is he is not going to get what he wants. So, there will be no debate because Bidet is not going to agree to anything other than the “independent” commission suggests. (Independent means not what it says, it is independent from anything that would be what Trump wants.)

Maybe Trump knows something we don’t. If the Left can have spies in his camp, he must have spies in theirs.

I thought they were going to claim Joe had Corona and they would use that to get out of the debates. Instead they poisoned Trump and then said the debates had to be virtual. This has been planned before. Wow what scum!

If joe goes on with this “debate” Trump should livestream his reactions on YouTube and Facebook
