President Donald Trump has made disparaging remarks about Oakland many times, and he did it again in the Tuesday night debate with former Vice President Joe Biden.
Fox News' Chris Wallace, who moderated the debate, asked the president about his frequent assertion that cities with Democratic leadership are more violent than Republican-run ones. When Wallace said Republican-controlled cities show similar trends of violent crime, Trump launched into a stream-of-consciousness response that, at one point, included an assertion that Oakland was "more violent" under President Barack Obama and asked where law and order was under the Obama-Biden watch.
"Look at Oakland, look what happened in Baltimore, look what happened, frankly it was more violent than what I am even seeing now," the president said.
"Oh, my god," Biden said.
"The reason is the Democrats in the cities," Trump went on.

Oh noes!
Trump may lose the Bay Area now!

Nothing good ever happens on MLK Boulevard.
I lived in Oakland for just over a decade.
It WAS a fun place in parts and a sh*thole in others.
Haven’t spent time there in years, but I can tell you this:
Anyone who pretends Oakland is crime-free is lying.
Anyone who makes excuses for the neighborhoods swirling the bowl has never spent time with old-school Oaklanders. If losers like Libby Schaaf would head out to East Oakland and interview the families who have OWNED their homes for generations, she would maybe learn a thing or two. Homeowners (black) are afraid to let their own kids/grandkids play on their own front lawns because of the thug/loser crews.
Oaklanders angry at Trump for speaking the truth!
Heres an old report on Oakland. During Bidens term as VP.
Truth hurts.
We can't close our eyes to the plight of the cities. Kids, are you noticing all this plight? This will just make us appreciate what we have.
(gun shot heard outside the car)
Roll 'em up!
They just bought a house here in Phoenix area. Enough was enough. They pay $700 a month for private security (they were burglarized three times).
The last straws were two fold: BLM asking door to door for a donation to put up a BLM sign in their yard (an implied threat) and the Mayors house being attacked in an early morning demonstration ( they were close enough to be awakened by the noise). They plan to retire, sell an move to a red state. They are both voting Trump this time.
So they’re going to kill a whole lot of people to prove they’re not violent?
Oh riiight. And the constant police helicopters every weekend evening is just an airshow out on for public entertainment. Don’t believe me? Go visit for yourself!
Back in the 90s, when I had a WebTV [pauses to let everyone finish laughing] I had a friend in Oakland.
He would email me at night and casually mention the gunfire he was hearing nearby.
So there is that.
Oh no! I’m going out on a limb and predicting Trump will NOT win California!
Well, I'm glad they woke up.
That thing about the BLM asking for "donations" to put up yard signs is unsettling, to say the least. A lot of my neighbors have been shaken down, apparently.
I suppise they’ll riot and burn stuff to “demonstrate” their civility.
Police don’t come to anyone’s aid when they are called for burglary in Oakland.
That said (I’ve lived near but not in Oakland for 30 years) I’d say these days Oakland is not as bad as Seattle or Portland and certainly not Chicago or Baltimore.
Trump is an East Coaster and is remembering a bit of Oakland from the past. It’s pricey to live there now. It’s gentrifying.
I hope that the Mitt-for-brains Oaklanders got so angry at Trump that they Mitt their own pants in frustration...

Oh no. Trump might lose Oakland!
It’s true, though. Oakland is no paradise but it not Chicago or St. Louis.
That's the truth. One of my daughters lived in the Oakland hills for some time, commuting to her job in Emeryville. She would drive down the hills to MLK Blvd and make her way to work every morning. I told her I worried about her safety. She said she could handle it. Then there was a carjacking at gunpoint at the intersection with MLK that she passes thru. Not to long after that, she moved - to another state.
Lol
