The first cruise ship to sail in Greece post-coronavirus lockdown was forced to dock Tuesday after 12 crew tested positive for the contagion, local officials said.

The Maltese-flagged Mein Schiff 6 set sail from Heraklion in Crete Sunday evening but its journey was halted following the “unclear positive COVID-19 tests” from 12 of the 666 crew on board, according to Agence France-Presse.

The positive cases, however, were later “identified as negative” in two rounds of follow-up tests after local health authorities boarded the docked cruiser, TUI Cruises said.

the “unclear” positive COVID-19 tests”

It’s just never ending these tests aren’t accurate! Why report as even remotely positive rather than they don’t know! Sheesh!ooo

What a misleading headline, given that they retested them multiple times and all were negative.

Cruise Ships should have a second type of test on board, and a section of the ship should be sealed off for quarantine. When they get a cheap positive test, put the people in the quarantine area, and run the expensive test, and figure out if they are really positive.

“Testing positive without getting sick is very similar to injecting a vaccine with weakened virus into your body. Both tend to build some resistance to further sickness from the same virus.”

Not if it is a. false-positive.

Point is missed. Again the point is, TESTING POSITIVE WITHOUT GETTING SICK has NO Negative side to it. It anything there is only chance of positive side.

False positive has no consequences at all of passing the infection. In my opinion, only those with active symptoms exude lots of virus cells. Those testing positive without symptoms are not coughing, not sneezing, not vomiting, have no fever, and are not going to exude enough virus cells to harm healthy people.

Finally all people over 65 with any serious comorbidity such as diabetes, obesity, COPD, heart disease, Asthma, cancer, Parkinson’s etc. do not belong in any public area subject to exposure from other people.

Point is missed. Testing positive without getting sick has many negatives. Just ask this captain.

Without getting into a pissing contest your post said

Not if it is a. false-positive.

There is no consequence of a false positive except bureaucratic or political.

What would. you do if you had a positive COVID test?

Ignore and hug all your loved ones?

If I had no symptoms, YES!

I test positive for influenza every year. Because I do not hibernate like Joe Biden. But my body fights it off, and I have not had influenza symptoms for 6 years.

I was on a crowded cruise this year in Caribbean and I am 100% certain some of the 1100 crew and 3000 passengers were infected with covid-19. The crew was almost all from SE Asia. My wife and I never missed any crowded shows in main theater or dining rooms. I never got any symptoms but I will bet any money if I was tested post-cruise I would have tested positive. My wife just felt tired after the cruise but that could be because she is fighting cancer.

Upon debarking our cruise last December I mused with. pleasure that neither of us got sick.

A few days later we were down with this awful cough that lasted three weeks.

As a note, boarding was delayed for several hours due to an ‘immigration problem’.

Port workers told us that it was due to having to clean an infected ship and happened frequently.

You’re a sick, evil death troll. Look up the definition of eugenics and you might find your picture there.

FreeRepublic is a pro-life forum....I think you must be here my mistake.

And for the record, I’m 43. So if you want “old geezers like me” to die soon you’re worse than I thought.

My last cruise was December 2018. The cruise lines have cut so many corners in maintenance and daily cleaning, food quality, entertainment, activities. Add to that, ports of call have gotten unpleasant, with all of those large ships bringing in so many tourists. There was the constant concern for quarantine and illness, even before the Pandemic.

My understanding is that a lot of people are eager to return to cruising. Put me in the "no thanks" category. The risk of getting caught up in a quarantine is not worth it. JMHO
