President Donald Trump intends to choose Amy Coney Barrett to be the new Supreme Court justice, according to multiple senior Republican sources with knowledge of the process.
In conversations with some senior Republican allies on the Hill, the White House is indicating that Barrett is the intended nominee, multiple sources said. All sources cautioned that until it is announced by the President, there is always the possibility that Trump makes a last-minute change but the expectation is Barrett is the choice. He is scheduled to make the announcement on Saturday afternoon.
Barrett has been the leading choice throughout the week, since Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died. She is the only potential nominee known to have met with the President in person, according to two of the sources. One source said Trump was familiar with Barrett already and he met with her since she was a top contender the last time there was a Supreme Court vacancy, when the President chose Justice Brett Kavanaugh instead.

I’m actually surprised that RBG did not outlive Sotomayor, who has serious type 1 diabetes. She’s been to the ER multiple times over the last couple of years. She also looks unhealthy and bloated in many of her recent photos.

These polls allegedly showing female Trump supporters wavering are nonsense and are designed to ty to manipulate us. As I see it, the KEY is winning re-election and not nominating a flaming Leftist, like Souter...and certainly, Amy’s record is far better than Souter’s non-record.
No, she won’t be perfect, simply because Tribalism seems to ALWAYS prevail (even once for Clarence Thomas, but thankfully that was it for him) - but the key here is to have someone fully qualified, who will make it very hard for our side to either stall or vote against, and she certainly fits that bill.
There will be more seats for Trump to fill in the future, but the fuse is too short to nominate someone who hasn’t, yet, been fully vetted...as that could EASILY delay the confirmation, which would suck.
Lock up Florida - Trump is going to win FL regardless. So just to make Democrats look bad isn’t a good enough reason to pick her.

Even if Roe vrs Wade is overturned it goes back to the states so most pro-choicer’s really have nothing to worry about since no states will ban all abortions. I wish our 2A rights were as secure.

IMO, the biggest PLUS with Amy is that she already sent thru the hearing process very recently, and she could be confirmed IMMEDIATELY.
There are a lot of pop culture addled suburban white women who don’t know how good they’ve got it. It seems the election will come down to them.
This isn’t about politics as it is choosing the best Constitutional representative for the court, which is Amy. She’s more of a strict Constructionist than Kavanaugh. She’ll be aligned with Alito and Thomas. I think it will be a fantastic pick!
No. She’s incredibly strong on 2a and was the lone dissenting voice on the rights of a felon to still have a gun noting the 2nd amendment.

That is where my thinking runs also. Already vetted, has been grilled by the Dems already, and confirmed. I would like to see Lindsey and Mitch ride that and go straight to a floor vote.
