Grand jury decides to indict police officer involved in Breonna Taylor’s death

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) - More than six months after Breonna Taylor was shot by Louisville police officers during a no-knock warrant, a grand jury has decided to charge one of the officers in the case.

Detective Brett Hankison was indicted on three counts of wanton endangerment. Hankison will be booked on a $15,000 cash only bond.

The other two officers involved were not charged.

A “spontaneous” protest is breaking out in Kentucky.

As I said, it was a selective reading.

The most important takeaway, that apparently nearly all of you missed, is that ...
"While the department had received court approval for a “no-knock” entry, the orders were changed before the raid to “knock and announce”, meaning that the police had to identify themselves."

Additionally, KY AG Cameron stated that the credible eyewitness had testified that LMPD announced themselves.

In Kentucky, once police announce, you do not have safe harbor under Stand Your Ground. In fact, after Walker fired, the only SYG belonged to Officer Mattingly. As it turns out, Officer Cosgrove fired the fatal shot; Officer Hankison missed St. Bre altogether.

Why is everyone in that crowd...every one of these crowds for that matter...under 30 with the majority probably 18-20?

Note also that when Wine dismissed Attemped Murder charges against Walker, he did so without prejudice and he even intimated they could be refiled in the future. And just now AG Cameron did not say those charges would not be re-filed.

I have often wondered how the police could just knock in your door with a warrant without knocking. There are just too many occasions where they have made mistakes. How can it be constitutional? Would an innocent man have had the right to take out a cop doing such? The indictment (even though it will not satisfy those looking to riot) seems about right. The officer will never be able to get a job in law enforcement again, as well he shouldn’t.

That doesn’t justify being shot

Although I generally support the police action in this matter based on what can be clarified of course that’s contentious

It always is and police lie and District Attorney’s lie

Rather than have the police lie down and be blamed for everything it might be time to reassess standard police procedure for knock or no knock raids and returning fire in the face of a threat

When I was a boy long ago seems like at least to my memory but Police did listen this and there’s no question absolutely no question whatsoever that the police were less militaristic militarism in the police force needs to be not only discouraged but forbidden

I figured that they would. Hoping to appease the mob. Same thing will happen to the kid from Wisconsin . Kangaroo Courts. The kid should prepare himself for prison. Just as happened with the poor soul in Omaha, the system will not stand for their workers to be interfered with. They hurt or kill you, who cares? You harm or kill one of their workers, the full force of the law descends upon you.

"why would anyone want to be a cop in any American city?"

An excellent question.

You put your life on the line every time your on the job...not just from accidents, but from criminal activity.

And for doing that, ~half of the country thinks your hitler and you should not only loose your livelihood, but your life as well.

"He admitted he heard them knocking.

I understand his exact words to the police were, "I hear you knocking, but you can't come in."

=================================================================

Yeah....

Police Response: Ok, well, we do have a warrant issued by a judge to enter/search the premises...but since you say we can't come in...well, we'll just rip up this warrant and go away.

Nothing will ever satisfy the mob. All they care about is being paid to be destructive.

Kentucky AG seems like a pretty decent guy.
OANN carried the whole press conference.

The lawyer for Briana’s family said they were at the wrong house. They were not.

According to the DA, they did announce themselves - it is on tape.

If you dig just a little deeper than the MSM Pablum, you will find that she had some interest prison phone conversations recently with the ex about drug money.

This was not an innocent. She did not deserve to be shot, but that is more on the heads of those she hung out with.

Bunch of cowards on the grand jury, just like the people in Omaha who indicted the bar owner who later committed suicide. The cops were fired on first! The new rules must be that police are not allowed to use force against any black person for any reason.

“I think that this is the CORRECT decision”

I agree. I’m not a big fan of no knock raids.

Kind of. Hankison fired randomly into a window, possibly on the second floor, thus the indictment. I've read that from 20 to 45 shots were fired by police, depending on the source. That leaves at least 10 rounds, probably more, from Mattingly and Cosgrove. Killing an unarmed woman and never hitting Walker. With that kind of performance it's a good thing for them Walker fired only one shot. Which he claims was a "warning" shot, " " because one should never fire one of those. Because if he was a criminal, those officers could be dead. It seems as though they all panicked. Which isn't necessarily a crime, but not professional behavior.

Should have noted Walker’s attorney claims his “warning” shot did not strike Mattingly, that it was a police round.

Any word on a ballistics report regarding the strike on Mattingly?
