Grand jury decides to indict police officer involved in Breonna Taylor’s death
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) - More than six months after Breonna Taylor was shot by Louisville police officers during a no-knock warrant, a grand jury has decided to charge one of the officers in the case.
Detective Brett Hankison was indicted on three counts of wanton endangerment. Hankison will be booked on a $15,000 cash only bond.
The other two officers involved were not charged.

What did the cop do wrong? Nothing. He just was a cop. And a White cop at that. The bullet killed a black. Through a closed door. They were returning fire.
Law and order has been destroyed. Anybody who’s a cop, excuse me, a White cop, get the heck out!

My friend, you have swallowed the mainstream media/civil rights narrative hook, line, and sinker. The police did not raid the wrong house. This house was suspected as a delivery residence for drugs and a stash house for money. Ms. Taylor was dating two drug dealers and having packages shipped to her apartment. She rented cars for drug dealers, and a dead body was discovered in one of these rental cars. GPS tracking and physical surveillance proved that drug dealers were picking up packages at the apartment and driving them to a drug shop (empty house). The police had Taylor on wiretaps with drug dealers talking about the drug shop, drug money, etc. BTW, the cops KNOCKED loudly. Taylor’s drug-dealing b/f, who shot at the cops, admitted that he heard the cops banging on the door (he heard banging, but didn’t realize they were cops-—probably b/c he was high on weed).
With that said, I believe that the police should refrain from entering houses when people are inside. They do this so they catch the drug dealers red-handed. It is safer to wait for the occupants to leave and then search.
Not for a drug case anyway.
Just spit-ballin here but there may be a scenario were that would be appropriate. Say, for example, a known international terrorist is holed up in a house in miami and credible information has it they planted a device that's going to go off in the {building} and they need to try and take them alive before the suspect gets to a weapon.
That aside, it's ironic in this case that the officers knocked first (which alerted the bf and gave him enough time to get his gun) prior to using the ram to bust open the door. So the "no knock" was actually a knock. [1]

I agree, people at 1 AM are going to believe it’s a home invasion, and try to defend themselves. Better to surround the home and give them a chance to give up first. Besides,every now and again they will be at the wrong door.

“A person is guilty of wanton endangerment in the first degree when, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, he wantonly engages in conduct which creates a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person.”
The law has been in place in 1975.

Now we know the TRUTH, it was NOT a no-knock warrant..they announced their presence beforehand..this was a tragic accident, the officers should NOT be charged

Yes. That is the normal human response. Whoever came up with no-knock warrants deserves to have one served on him at least yearly.

Yup. Breaking into someone’s home in the dead of night should trigger a few “what could possibly go wrong?” thoughts by anyone who does it, including police.

I agree these warrants are just asking for things to go wrong and need to be abolished for good. Anyone breaking down a door in the middle of the night is going to be thought to be an intruder, not the police. Even if they announce themselves, in the dark, breaking in...nope I wouldn’t believe it.

No. They want murder charges and public executions. Nothing else will satisfy them.”
Even that won’t satisfy them. Why? Because the riots have nothing to do with the issue at hand. The riots are just a tool and mechanism to try and effect radical change.
I hear you. And I am very sympathetic to the police (even though I’m a defense attorney!). However, unloading your clip into an upstairs apartment from down below is about as reckless as it gets. There could have been kids in the apartment. He could have shot a cop via richochet. If he had fired once or twice, I would probably be ok. When you empty your entire clip? I would like to hear the officer’s reasoning for doing this, so I am open-minded.
Not familiar with KY law. When someone faces 1 to 5 years, does that mean they must go to jail for at least 1 year? Or can the sentence be suspended?

I too don't know for a fact that this was a "no-knock warrant", but as you, I've read that the did in fact knock on the door. It's the reason her BF had time to go get his gun and shoot first. He (her current BF) probably assumed it was her ex-bf the (apparently) known drug dealer.
His firearm discharged through walls into a neighbor's apartment, where three people were present, including a pregnant woman.
