California is a mess; no secret there. But the degree of decline that befalls it, and the quickness with which that decline is moving, seems to be largely ignored, particularly by Californians themselves. The nation's most populous state, and arguably its most naturally beautiful, is falling apart virtually everywhere we look.
Yet state and local governments not only insist on moving forward with leftist policies, but continually double down by moving even farther left, and the state's voters return them to office with ever-increasing electoral margins. California's current approach to virtually all aspects of society — the economy, environment, legal system and culture — is unsustainable, and the time for reckoning is rapidly approaching.
The current crisis in California that is getting the most national attention is the plague of wildfires throughout much of the northern part of the state. Such fires have ravaged the area for millennia, long before the presence of any European settlers, but that has not stopped California leftists and their media from pointing fingers at climate change and President Trump.
Avoiding responsibility for a crisis by blaming anyone and anything with even a remote chance of culpability is the California way — which leads to a failure to develop real solutions. None of California's leaders, least of all Democratic governor Newsom, have accepted any responsibility for the government's role in the fires.
Evidence clearly shows that the decision by the state to revive "fire suppression" efforts, a practice that essentially delays the inevitable and results in even larger wildfires (and was mostly discontinued in the 1960s), has been a major contributor to the magnitude of this year's fires. But has the government of California even paused to reconsider the strategy? Sadly, no.

That is b/c smart producers are leaving and replaced by stupid takers who vote always for gibmedats while not realizing the other “me” in the equation is always someone else.
The rich left there are simply in a position to exploit this situation - more than the confiscatory taxes are able to take.
California...the model and objective for America.
I don’t know that it is reasonable to expect control over vast forests. Better to be aware and prepare when building near, or in them. Have a system in place to preserve life and property. Clear locally and use that product for manufacturing. Most of that forest has probably been untoched by humans since the beginning.
THEN try and tell me that anyplace in this country is going under.
California the the fifth largest economy ON THE PLANET so "boo-hoo" for them -- NOT.
Time to split the state, let the northern part go its own way.
People INSIST on living in the boonies. They LOVE it ...until there is a problem, fire, floods, ANY kind of disaster.
THEN they expect to be BAILED out by the gobmint or SOMEONE. THEN they want help.

It’s the voters. I see it all the time on the facebook news. Comments when the legislature passes some stupid bill like.....we didn’t vote for that! uh....yeah you did when you voted for the Democrat. For some reason these people that keep voting for Democrats think they should get a vote on each individual bill. They totally miss the correlation between voting for a Democrat and the bills that get passed. The stupidity is astounding.
I honestly believe California will be a state that will turn red so fast it will make everyones head spin. Hispanics already are the state majority. At some point...one of them is going to go Republican and click with that majority. But there is simply too many bad decisions effecting too many people and they will wake up.
Wrong. How do you think California became so blue? Demographics. Millions of people from socialist or semi socialist countries came in. I have Hispanic friends that are conservative as all get out. They still vote Democrat. I’m telling you there is a huge disconnect.
A shift will certainly require a clear fixing of the blame for the state's problems on the Democratic Party - which the surviving CA GOP has always seemed to think is "rude" and would not do.
But the Republican brand is too damaged to be the replacement. Either a populist Trump Party or a new libertarian/free market party, either one led by well-known celebrities could ultimately expose the vote fraud machine and topple the CA Democrats, but it will take years to build up such an organization.
