WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday vowed to hold a vote on President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee before the November election following the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

“President Trump’s nominee for this vacancy will receive a vote on the floor of the Senate,” McConnell (R-Ky.) said on the floor of the chamber, warning of a cultural war over filling the influential role.

McConnell says there is “overwhelming precedent” for the Senate to act quickly on a nomination.

“The Senate has more than sufficient time to process a nomination. History and process make that perfectly clear,” McConnell said, noting that Ginsburg’s nomination was filled in just 42 days.

I’d like to see them fill it before the election. What I REALLY want to see, however, is that it is actually filled by a CONSERVATIVE.

I know that from time to time Mitch comes in for some criticism around these parts, but I gotta say. On the judicial thing, the man is rock solid. Go, Mitch!

Graham says that upon reviewing the confirmation process and comparing what has happened to Kavanaugh Alito etc vs Kagan Sotomayor etc he will be expediting the process.

Mitch has been solid ever since McCain went onto his eternal, ahem ahem, “reward.”

I don’t know if there’s a connection, but it lines up pretty well.

“He wouldn’t say that unless he had the votes!”

definitely ... which most likely means the rest of the GOP Senate except for the Traitor Sisters will vote to confirm , which is nothing more nor less than voting to preserve both the Republic AND the GOP party ... failure to confirm before the election is guaranteed to destroy both ... apparently the damn fool GOP has finally figured that out, that this is a life or death matter for the party and the nation as a whole, as well as all of the individual elected GOP officials ...

I must say, I am very surprised at Mitch McConnell. He threw President Trump under the bus during the Senate trial over impeachment. There were no need for hearings then. Everybody knew the House impeachment vote was a sham and of no value whatsoever. Yet Mitch and the Republicans gave it credibility by holding hearings. The bastards.

Yet now they seem to actively be making steps to get nine justices on the bench before election day. God, I hope so. I’ve been reading where this election could go to the Supremes. And if it does and it goes to a 4-4 vote, then what?

I think everyone knows that Trump will get his pick confirmed before the election. I’m looking forward to this as it is win, win, win for all Republicans who support Trump and his nominee, it will help the election results.

“I’d like to see them fill it before the election”.

It’s the same thing. The vote to confirm is filling the position.

More than that. He says there will be more than enough time to “process a nomination.”
