Former legendary NFL player and coach Mike Ditka on Tuesday that he can't for the life of him understand why football players are protesting police brutality and racial injustice by refusing to stand for the national anthem.
And he's got a message for them they aren't going to like one bit:
"If you can't respect this country, get the hell out of it," Ditka said on "National Report."
"Its not a complicated thing," he said. "You play the game, you enjoy the game, if you dont like the game, get out of it."
He added, "You play football, thats it. Youre privileged, you got a gift from God that you can play the game because you got a body you can do it with.
"I dont really understand what youre protesting. I played the game, I coached the game for a long time, and it makes no sense to me. You ought to get down on your hands and knees and thank God every day that you can make the kind of money that you can make playing football, or playing any sport."
Ditka added, "So, to me it makes no sense, you got the wrong guy."
He suggested that players who don't want to be on the field for the national anthem should "go to another country and play there."
Refreshingly old school. And judging by the collapsing ratings of this year's NFL games, it looks like the American people agree with him.

That’s who want as my coach not a loser like Frank Reich here in Indianapolis. He released a statement condemning the country for it’s systemic racism and calling on white people to show some understanding of horrible things blacks in America deal with everyday. He also said Whites need to fix the problem of racism. It made me puke. Then the team went out and lost to the worst team in the NFL. I actually stated that I’d rather have a Ditka like coach who wanted to win football games not one who wanted to ‘heal’ the country. I was banned from the Colts forum for making what they considered an offensive comment.
Michael Keller Ditka is now 80 years old. His net worth is estimated at $30 million.
His 1985 Chicago Bears team is considered one of the best in NFL. It featured such Hall of Famers as Walter Payton and Mike Singletary.
Coach Ditka was born in Carnegie, PA.....and lives in retirement in Carnegie, PA.
Go, Bears !
Trump is an amazing man in so many ways. We are blessed that he left his billionaire lifestyle to serve patriotic Americans. Few would do it, maybe only one.
“Those who want to watch the NFL are welcome to do so, and even post about it here. if Jim-Rob is cool with it.”
No doubt. As long as the owner allows it it will continue. That said, when they do so, those of us who agree with Coach Ditka will continue to call them out for their hypocrisy. You cannot credibly claim to be a Patriot on this board and give aid and comfort to those that hate this country and all it stands for.

Good to know you’ve tossed all that Chinese crap you owned in the trash and everything you buy is American made, by the *right* American companies. Nothing from Russia, Mexico, Italy, etc. Right on!
Interesting but not politically, Jack Ryan's wife was Jeri Ryan, also known as Seven of Nine.
I remember.
Ditka could have won.
“...getting paid Kings Ransoms for performing a childs game.”
Please name me the game where you go out and throw yourself at someone with intent upon knocking them down or out for money. That’s called mugging. Too many of these animal couldn’t survive in the real world. And if you have been able in your life to get on a field when the line play is going on, especially college or pro, you’d get the idea that these are subhumans of almost incredible ferociousness and size/strength who are dangerous. They feel no pain after the lidocaine injections, and/or uppers and downers they use, and they do not cut back. I have called in college and have talked with pro referees that are friends and been invited to the games on the surface. It’s like colliding freight trains. And the bigger the hitter, the bigger the reward.
And they all retire crippled. Look up Jim Otto. I have a friend named Otis Systrunk and he can barely walk. Good man, but that child’s game took his body. Too much emphasis on hitting and not enough on execution.

I believe that in recent years Jack Ryans wife recanted at least some of the salacious accusations she made about Jack. Dems dont play games.

A juvenile response. Typical of those who are trying so hard to justify an unjustifiable position.
There are currently certain necessities that are produced nowhere in this country. Giving aid and comfort to blatantly un-American sports leagues such as the NFL does NOT constitute a life necessity. Watching a GAME on TV is a pure choice. Those who do so choose to give aid and comfort to anti-Americanism. Period. It really is as simple as that. To do so and then claim to be a Patriot is blatant hypocrisy.
Yeah, I think so too.
I have the same expectations for sportsball players pontificating about the great issues of the day, as I have for Thomas Sowell scoring a 70 yard touchdown in the Sports Bowl.
Stay in your lane, run fast, shut up.

What a stand up guy.Never disappoints.
A punk.A big one but still a punk.
I suppose he lives in FL.
I remember those “Da Bears” years even though I was only 8 or 9 years old at the time.
Watched a lot those games with the legendary team he created. Back when America was good. Really miss those days.
I just dont visit the threads about the NFL. Its like to doesnt exist to me.
