Until Roger Goodell and the NFL recently signified their devotion to the anti-American mythology promoted by Black Lives Matter and prostrated themselves before its pantheon of privileged heroes such as Colin Kaepernick, football had for decades been something that made us all incredibly happy and was a central feature of our lives each fall. Now it will not be a part of our lives for the foreseeable future, and I seriously doubt that we're unique.
That should strike fear into the hearts of NFL executives. There is a seismic shift beneath our feet in the world of sports today, and I think most sports fans of a certain age see it clearly, even if the top brass of the NFL cannot.

There is no way out for Goodell. The only viable way out for the NFL, at this point, is to oust Goodell and announce a "Back to Football" campaign to coincide with the receding of the COVID crisis. An announcement centering on national pride and normalcy would be amazingly easy to achieve and wildly popular, and it would maintain the NFL's position as "America's sport."
That is the only thing that might salvage the destruction that Roger Goodell has caused. The NFL's newfound wokeness under his leadership is unlikely to attract new fans of the game, but a quick pivot to normalcy might halt the current exodus of its traditional fan base. Even still, many fans will never return to watching football, and it seems a foregone conclusion that the NFL will never again be dominant in American life as it once was.

If that team (the team, not just the owners) told "Woke" players they could either salute the flag or hit the road, I would watch and support that team no matter how bad they are.
But until that point, no NFL.

I watched some on Sunday It doesn’t really entertain me much anymore. It isn’t really even the BLM that did it. On another note, the cardboard cutout fans are really stupid.
Many people are feeling a very very dangerous emotion towards the nfl. Indifference. I loved them. and I hated them. But this is the first time I am indifferent.

They're always pushing "xyz Strong" after catastrophes (Jersey Strong after Hurricane Sandy, "Boston Strong" after the marathon murders, etc.)
NFL could have taken the comeback kid mantle and led the way
That would have been seen as siding with Trump's optimism, and that would have gotten Goddell in trouble at the cocktail parties.

Was getting take out at chili’s last night. On the large screens the game was on. It was so loud it was ridiculous. And no kidding, no one was watching
The anthem played I used to lament that nfl and mlb would not play the anthem but would go to commercial so hearing it, I payed attention. Tge cameras went to the kneelers.
Who is paying them? And chili’s. What’s with the volume? Who orders that? It used to be muted like it always was on sundays at my house
The waitress/delivery had on football themed garb, nail polish. I asked her about the ridiculous volume. She said I don’t know. I don’t like football I hat Monday nights. The customers love it. Hmm. But she’s got the nail polish. And there are two women at he bar and a guy by himself reading his phone

Unrelated, glad to see the US (Trump) shut down Goods traffic from Chinese concentration camps.
The last time I went to Chili’s was years ago. When I saw a familia sit their Nino on their table with a dirty diaper that was it. Adios.
