Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) on Thursday ordered the Portland Police Bureau to cease using a form of tear gas as riots continue to plague the Democrat-run city.
The Oregonian reports:
The declaration that officers will no longer unleash CS gas comes after 105 straight days of protests that have seen city and federal officers deploy tear gas on participants. Over that time, people have also repeatedly been subjected to gas by Portland police in their cars or homes while not participating in the demonstrations. [ ]
Public records show Portland police have spent tens of thousands of dollars on less-lethal munitions and tear gas canisters in response to nightly protests.
During the last hundred days Portland, Multnomah County and state police have all relied on CS gas where there is a threat to life safety, Wheeler, who also serves as Portlands police chief, said in a video statement. We need something different. We need it now.
Below is Wheelers full statement:

In a statement to The Oregonian, Oregon State Police Captain Timothy Fox said: The OSP will be forced to assess our involvement in assisting the city of Portland.
We will not for force our troopers into this untenable situation and limit their ability to defend themselves and others, he added.
Oregon State Police slammed the move by Wheeler as reckless and short sighted.
Wheeler was previously teargassed as he met with protesters back in July.
President Donald Trump and Chad Wolf, Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, have repeatedly warned Wheeler that the administration could re-send federal resources into Portland to quell violent unrest.

Now he’s got something he can use when he is posing for his progressive high-minded friends at dinner parties this weekend.
Cops, citizens, and buildings are at increased risk, but the mayor will get the attention he wants.
The Police must be beating the Rioter Trash
I’m thinking a different artistic approach...More dystopian.
The famous piece called “Garden of Earthly Delights” by
Hieronymus Bosch comes to mind.
This is truly bizarre. We are seeing a mayor encouraging antifa and BLM rioters to resist law and order and overthrow his own office and city. At what point will this become unbearable, if it has not already?
maybe tell your anarchist commies to stop rioting and burning up the city, instead
oh wait they don’t give a phuck avout laws or a constitutional republic
Now the previously unruly crowds will begin to behave SO much better.... < /sarcasm >
In Detroit the mayor and the chief of police have decided they are not going to have it. If you do a day time peaceful protest, no problem. You do a night riot they will land on you like a ton of bricks.
And then there is the gun situation. In Detroit people carry. And they will shoot you. And then though the media may wail the rest of the city will shrug and say it served you right.

That would be the best - Im not sure he would even respond. He is totally deranged.
“Is the CS gas causing periods? Does Wheelers ****sy hurt?”
Funny you say this. Mark Steyn talked about a tranny, female to male, that complained bitterly that the CS gas caused it to menstruate for the first time in three years. And, demanded that the gas not be allowed to be used at all.
It's being planned.
Orders which are totally wrong and goes against what is needed for a particular situation should be ignored and it is legal to do so
Keep it simple : tell police not intervene
Standing for lack of personnel due to flu
..
I’m trying to move out of this joint...getting place ready to list and was waiting for plumber to come today and they had to cancel because so many of their employees had to go home to evacuate due to the fires.
One thing after another here! I’ve had it.
Yep...we had a similar rule when I worked in NY State Corrections. If you believed an order given was unlawful because it could lead to your injury, or the injury of others, you had the right to refuse to obey it. Of course you’d have to prove it was unlawful later, but the fact that Wheeler is taking away an effective tool to control and disperse dangerous crowds is, as far as I’m concerned, an unlawful order.
I’ll keep you in my prayers.
“...also serves as Portlands police chief...”
This mayor is also the police chief?????????
No wonder Portland is so screwed up....
Unfortunately for the Mayor the police decided to store all the not-used tear gas grenades in the Mayor’s office. The pins are stored at the warehouse.
Oregon is in under a fire conflagration order by the governor. It is suspected domestic terrorists are starting some of the fires. This punk mayor is diverting resources to his problem by allowing this to go on daily for over 3 months.
