This is why there are continual riots in Portland and none in Detroit despite Detroit being much poorer and having more minorities. The people who are supposedly rioting.

In Detroit the mayor and the chief of police have decided they are not going to have it. If you do a day time peaceful protest, no problem. You do a night riot they will land on you like a ton of bricks.

And then there is the gun situation. In Detroit people carry. And they will shoot you. And then though the media may wail the rest of the city will shrug and say it served you right.

Additionally Detroit's suburbs, especially the northern ones are bastions of owners & carriers that would have no problem using their tools.
