I have respect for Kyle Mizokami, and especially so for Popular Mechanics.
But it's budget season and they'll print what the Pentagon wants.
Guess he wants more money.
And no where in the article does the Air Force Chief say that the US is no longer dominant.
Bingo.
Meh.
Where does he stand on Shatner’s Captain vs. Colonel in the Space Force?
Is this a Fundraiser by the General??
The new fiscal year cometh.
They are the kings at resting on their laurels.
“Is this a Fundraiser by the General??”
Most certain.
That said, I support more funding for equipment and tools.
I just feel insulted when they lie about it.
The U.S. will get smashed in a war against China. It lost military superiority back during the Obama era.
“the Air Force absolutely no one to blame but themselves.”
For establishing the capability to defeat every other air force in the world simultaneously?
The military no longer can fund repairs or training. Many of its planes are useless.
“The U.S. will get smashed in a war against China.”
You are an idiot, full of deliberate ignorance.
What a maroon
Besides being seditious in broadcasting any such thing, tone deaf to what is going on in the news
Mattis is outed as at least seditious in Woodwards book.
People are bracing to hear any negative thing about the president in the post Labor Day election period
I believe that in the Star Trek franchise time period of the future, the mainstay of defense within our planet’s atmosphere is upgraded B-52’s.
Not sure what to make of this, but I am sure budget prep has something to do with it. But, no doubt, the magnitude of Chinese spying is a concern. I can see how that may have translated into a less pronounced advantage for us.
Having been involved in the military industrial complex for an entire career, I can add a comment. The companies have a huge pull on what gets bought because they are the next step in the career path of officers. Thus the military ends up buying stuff it doesn’t need, or that is less than optimal, because the maker of the optimal equipment is new to the fray and hasn’t hired a bunch of people from the military program office yet. (Or, other related issues.) Or, as in Boing’s case, they carry a pocket Congresscritter and they’re not afraid to use it.
Idiot programs like Future Combat Systems made no sense at all. The entire concept was garbage. It was a jobs program for Boeing, but Boeing didn’t have enough votes so they combines with another company and they shared responsibility for running the show. They had no idea what us subs were doing. None. Nobody was in charge.
