Latimer’s career is very impressive.

The bar exam is difficult. It’s like the verbal part of the old SAT on steroids, with an essay day (or two) added on. It’s no picnic, especially if you are not verbally skilled and prepared for it. Three years of law school and a bar prep course should be enough to pass.

My understanding is you don’t technically need the schooling to pass the bar exam and become a lawyer. You just have to pass.

Qualifications vary from state to state. Usually, a degree, background check, and passing the exam are required for a license. There might still be some apprenticeship type things on the books in places. Passing without the education or prep would be an impressive achievement.
