If theres one thing the Republican National Convention banked on this past week, its the idea that Americans will find the scenes of unrest during racial-justice protests terrifying and vote accordingly specifically, for President Trump.
In his speech closing out the conventions final session Thursday night, Trump warned about mob rule, building upon a speech he made last week in which he pitched himself as the only thing standing between the American Dream and total anarchy, madness and chaos. Despite all of it occurring on his watch and despite his failed 2016 promises to end such scenes of violence, Trump is again asking Americans to believe him when he says hes the solution.
Whether they will or not and how much they actually vote on the issue is a crucial 2020 question. But some recent polls suggest White Americans may not be as supportive of the Black Lives Matter movement as they were earlier this summer.
There has been limited polling on this in recent weeks, and none publicly released covering the period since the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wis., last weekend. But what we did see before then suggests the spikes we saw in favor of Black Lives Matter protesters following the police killing George Floyd in Minneapolis had subsided.
While polls after Floyds death show big increases in support for Black Lives Matter and a belief in systemic racism in American law enforcement, recent polls suggest things returning closer to the mean.
Perhaps most striking was, coincidentally, a poll in Wisconsin. The Marquette University Law School poll in mid-June showed residents supported the Black Lives Matter movement by a 61 percent to 38 percent margin. But by earlier this month, those numbers had evened out 48-48.
The reason: White Wisconsinites.

I may have missed it, but I did not see the words “Black Lives Matter” anywhere during the RNC.
“They can try but it wont work.”
Agreed. I don’t think there’s anything the Democrats can do now to make up for the fact that they didn’t say one word against the violence and looting during their convention.
I sure would love to be in charge of creating commercials for Trump’s campaign right about now. The most difficult part of that job would be sorting through the mountains of prime material rioters, Democrat mayors, governors and Biden and Harris have already provided.
People are waking up to the fact that BLM (burn, loot, murder) has nothing to do with black folks at all.
The name is actually a deliberate misnomer. It’s a rabid marxist group that’s hellbent on overthrowing the U. S. government that uses black folk and racism as a front for protection, fund raising and to cover their real agenda.
Follow where the donations to BLM really go...follow it all the way thru. They’re joined at the hip with the DNC all the way.
It was formed and controlled by the Soros/obama shadow government to do exactly what it’s doing. Find the way to cut thAT head off, and this snake will die quickly.
Yuuuup. Starting to see it here in KY (Dem state gov) At first, when he started doing his covid19 updates there was a general ‘ugh, this sucks but we’ll deal with it’ kind of vibe in regards to the shutdowns. But after 80+ days of protests/riots in largest city Louisville KY (Dem city mayor) with no end in sight and groups from out of state march through the city with only ONE WEEK of National Guard presence and a “curfew” that didn’t apply to protesters, there’s a noticeable shift in response.
No pictures of looters making off with heavy-duty work boots or algebra text books?
The only reason it’s 48% in support is because people are worried this riot nonsense may be headed their way until they toe the line. I bet the real number is closer to 30%, which represents the hardcore left and much of the black community.
I think a lot of Americans are risk-averse and saying they support BLM is the easy answer to give. Imagine for most of us seeing an employer-based survey asking if one supports BLM. To say, "no" would be a career-killer.
Yes, technically the unrest is happening on Trump’s watch. But its mainly happening in Democratic strongholds that refuse to enforce the law. Those same strongholds are either refusing Federal aid or actively trying to evict Federal law enforcement.
As I said on another thread: Gee whiz. Yknow, a thinking American might be getting a sneaking suspicion lately that the radical response to the virus lockdowns, quarantines, making people with masks seem ordinary appears uncannily like a plan some group or other might come up with to clear the way for riots and unrest in case some sort of an outrage occurred. Like for example if a black person died in police custody and the media made a massive deal out of it.
I think this everyday seeing random BLM signs as I go to work thanking god for my health,a job and President Trump as President.
BTW,Trump signs outnumber both BLM and Biden signs and I live in NJ.
I am sickened and very worried about a good portion of America that agrees with this BLM/Covid scam.
I never travel but it might be worth it just to actually see Trump signs somewhere. I have never seen one since the few ---a few----in 2016.
Like a fantasy dreamworld to me. If I ever come into some money (retired and broke) I would love to move to a Trump region.
We're in SE Pa. Not many Trump signs visible here but the Biden signs are popping up now. Our area is thick with politically correct people who vote D in lock step. This also means that Trump supporters keep a very low profile. Putting a sign in front of your house or something on your car is an invitation to abuse and vandalism. I have noticed more American flags flying. I take that as an indication of Trump support.
They did say something. They said burning and looting is peaceful.
Gee, Aaron, will it take a third guillotine in front of your boss's house to convince you that you all are backing the wrong horse???
