A former Phillips Exeter Academy math teacher allegedly “groomed” a shy 14-year-old freshman girl into years of sexual abuse and manipulated her parents into believing he was a trusted family friend, according to court records and a prosecutor.

Szczesny Jerzy Kaminski pleaded not guilty Tuesday to multiple counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault charges stemming from his alleged repeated sexual assault of the girl between 2014 and 2016 at the private boarding school in Exeter, N.H., where Kaminski was a math instructor and the girl a student from Florida.

Should a 14 yo girl be living by herself (boarding school) around these kinds of people?

The problem isn’t the students, its the teacher. Phillips Exeter provides a great education for its students, and has many faculty and dorm mentors who support the students.

I went to Phillips Andover as a young man.

It was an outstanding school, and it was totally unthinkable that any faculty would engage in sexual relations with any students.

The parents pay big bucks for tuition, and they expect outstanding faculty with off the charts high moral values.

This is a stunning story...almost beyond belief...

My father was a police officer. He once said if you want to know where pedophiles are just find out where the children are.

Not every teacher, priest, scout leader, etc. is a pedo, but there may very well be at least one in every bunch.

There is a weird aspect to this story. The guy was very involved in her life and she and her family resisted any investigation, the girl denied anything inappropriate.

Now she’s in her twenties and told police he did all this stuff. Maybe just a victim coming forward, maybe also a falling out and retribution.

The problem isn’t the students, its the teacher.

It's a lot of teachers. The Timberlane school district in sleepy Plaistow New Hampshire recently had a teacher who had a 'consensual relationship' with a student, a middle school girl's soccer coach and gym teacher convicted of many counts of purchasing kiddie porn, and a high school teacher who maintained a social media site advocating drug use and sexually deviant behavior to students (he was only asked to make his site private).

I think it's time for a class action lawsuit against the NEA that enables and protects these predators. Teachers assault more children than the BSA and Catholic Church combined.

Again? Those teacher/student relationships have been going on for at least the last 40 years at Timberlane. I think the last time I heard of one was by a socker coach at that school.

There was one at Exeter high but the people involved kept things quiet until after she graduated. Then they got married.

Plaistow isn’t as sleepy as it used to be. Lots of hustle and bustle going on there now. It’s practically North Haverhill.

The standards at PEA seem to have slipped a bit. There was a grammar school in a town nearby who taught their students from grade one to function through the system in prep for PEA. So many local tuitions were awarded to Exeter students, tuition free.

Even if one didn’t acheive entry to Phillips, you still came out of that system with a better than average education.

I sure hop the crackdown on pedos continues. They damage a lot of children physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Many of them for life.

Pedo’s are everywhere. One of my daughters went to a boarding school, no problems. The problem, other than the pedos themselves, is that some kids think that those in authoritative positions are going to protect them. I have always taught my girls that you should listen to authorities but not trust them. There are very few people you should trust unconditionally.

I read something yesterday that has stuck with me.

One is to Trust God
and Love People.

People are untrustworthy because they are human.

Small world. I am also a product of Big Blue. Some of my strongest friendships today were friends I made Junior year.

There were rumors, even at Andover, and a mini-scandal a few years back. These freaks are everywhere. Choate had an issue, Deerfield had an issue, Milton had one, and I don’t think this is the first time this has happened at Exeter.

Good to see you here. From your posts it looks like you are a lot younger than I am.

I was infamous on campus back in the day since I was an outspoken conservative....but memories are short, and when I went back for a reunion many years later everyone seemed to have forgotten all about it—so of course I did not remind them. :-)

Scott Buatti was the middle school girls soccer coach and a phys ed teacher. Did time for downloading kiddie porn. Someone at the school testified on his behalf at the parole hearing. It's the culture.

Lots at Phillips. Mostly man/boy.

Need to do to the NEA what has been done to the BSA and the Catholic Church. It has to be the NEA otherwise the victims pick up the tab.

Pedos used to use candy—now they’re found with marijuana when arrested. Those warnings of yesteryear were prescient, but ignored.

“Pedos used to use candy—now they’re found with marijuana when arrested.”

Supposing that’s true, how has the illegality of marijuana helped?

Conservatives, even in my day, had issues. Sadly most of my class has turned into (albeit successful) SJWs. Non sibi, non optimatium :)
