He was walking away from a cop with his gun drawn. Not exactly a peace-loving move.

Police would assume he was going for a weapon in the car.
To: Vendome
When it’s an armed standoff, opening the car door and going in is not “non-threatening”. You don’t know what he’s going for.

One of the cops grabs hold of his shirt, and for some inexplicable reason, he unloads seven rounds at arm's length. The victim was flown to a hospital and has been listed as being in serious condition.
Just a flesh wound, really.

and for some inexplicable reason, he unloads seven rounds at arm's length. For some reason reporter reports in an inexplicable fashion. Then we get the explanation and it is no longer inexplicable.

Blacks commit an extraordinary amount of violent crime. On a per-person basis, far beyond that of any other race in the USA. So the fact that they get into a disproportionate number of dust-ups with law enforcement is not surprising.

Title is very misleading - the suspect tried to get in his car ... the cop had a tenth of a second to react ...

The suspect was reaching for something as he attempted to reach in/enter the vehicle.

Lemme guess he had weapons in the car. Where’s the body cam video.

This appears to be a legitimate shoot. You can’t let a suspect enter or reach into a vehicle, store or home.
I don’t know what he was doing prior to this, or why the cops wanted him, but this appears to be a good shoot.
