“There is no way in hell Id open the door to people who claimed to be cops - while I have a gun in my hand.”
I wouldn’t open the door to someone claiming to be a cop but who wasn’t in view. It’s called “home invasion”.
1. There was music in the apartment, and I doubt if he could hear the police announce themselves.
2. He had gotten knock on the door at night before, and (properly) answered the door armed, but with the gun on the inside side.
3. He repsonded IMMEDIATELY to the police commands, dropping the gun.
4. The officer fired AFTER the citizen had dropped the gun, the officer didn’t actually see the gun in the citizen’s hand when he shot.
The citizen was (a) innocent, (b) acting lawfully, (c) and rationally, and (d) obey police commends to the best of his ability in a split second.
Lick another boot, but that was a bad shoot.
That’s my take, though they blurred out too much.

“Yeah, answering the door with a gun in your hand is not a good idea but getting blasted for it?”
There is normally a pattern in this discourse:
Knock, knock, knock...
WHOSE THERE!!??
They knocked, and identified themselves as Phoenix police. He’s was really stupid to appear at the doorway with a gun in hand after they identified themselves.
This was not a sting operation, and they told them who they were before the door opened. I can’t remember the number of times police have been ambushed in traffic stops or requests for information at homes. And the first thing they did was order the dropping of the gun and he didn’t.
rwood
He may not have heard it...
BTW - If I did need to open the door in an iffy situation, but there was a possibility of cops, I’d probably have my gun behind me. But that could get me shot too. I strongly support cops but some are very quick to shoot....
But beware when using peep holes. Bad guys nowadays are directing green lasers through them when you look into it. I've heard this has happened.
I generally support law enforcement but there are bad cops and those that shouldn't have a badge.
Is it his home? Does he not have a right to be prepared in case it turns out to NOT be the cops? The police should be cautious. But shooting a guy in the back is not cautious.
The cops are on hair-triggers right now. This is tragic but with the assaults on cops these days they are even more twitchy than usual.
That’s what I think as well...........
All I’ll say is The city of Phoenix is damn lucky the dead guy is white.
Why has this NOT been on the news nationally?....................Lack of melanin...............
The guy immediately gave himself up and laid on the ground. He was NOT a threat. This is MURDER.
True. But we know that the “News” is nothing but commieprop and expect nothing else.
the cops are lying.
the guy was putting it down with one hand raised
that was murder
I’m going with...cops should be executed.
Then why do we put them through training? It’s apparently wasted.
And should plan accordingly.
