A 24-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday in connection to a baseball bat attack on a U.S. marshal, as authorities attempted to disperse protesters in Portland last month.
The incident involving Dakotah Ray Horton occurred around 1:20 a.m. July 27 outside the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse, the site of much of the violence in the city over several weeks.
Federal officers were attempting to disperse a crowd armed with bats, hockey sticks and shields when someone tried cutting through a fence with power tools, Deputy U.S. Marshal Christopher Tamayo wrote in a federal affidavit obtained by Fox News.
Meanwhile, federal officers were pelted with glass bottles, explosives and other hard objects, the document said.
As several officers attempted to arrest a protester, officials said Horton struck one U.S. marshal kneeling on the ground in the upper back, neck and shoulder area with a wooden baseball bat. The officer suffered bruising to the back and shoulder, Tamayo wrote.
In an effort to identify the assailant, the U.S. Marshals Service on Aug. 2 issued a bulletin in the Portland area with close-up images of his face and clothes.

It’s a sign of the times that arresting a perp for assaulting a cop is actually reported as news. It used to go without saying. Now it’s the exception rather than the rule.
Trial and consequences are even rarer, because their enablers and employers have an important election to win.
Of course, I want this guy arrested, charged and jailed, but it sure would be nice to show the same justice to the average Joe.

No baseball bats are NOT approved for hitting Federal officers, however, should you chose to use a 4.5 min-sledge to ambush and repeatedly hit one on the head, you will be released quickly without bail as the guy several weeks ago was. Just contact the National Lawyers Guild rep who will come to your aid immediately.
Ah, the average joe is going to have to create their/our own justice; that should be readily apparent by now.

As a former LEO I’d pay to be on that jury. I recall a case in northern va. Where the bleeding heart prosecutor would not support a felony assault charge because the perp was 18 so she forced us to accept a misdemeanor charge because she did not want the case heard outside magistrates court. I found one for the bimbo that was a misdemeanor BUT the penalty fine was beyond what a magistrate could hear. So we went off to district court where the judge was known as stormin Oren. Her day in court did not go well as the judge reemed her for such a minimum charge for his actions. On the way out of court she uttered to me you set me up. I answered she set herself up and stopped before I said more.
