Trump Says Goodyear Tires Will Be Removed From Presidential Limousine, Doubles Down On Boycott
Daily Caller ^ | August 19, 2020 | Phillip Nieto

President Donald Trump said that he would “swap out” Goodyear tires from his presidential limousine nicknamed “The Beast” after earlier calling for the company to be boycotted.

“On the Goodyear issue, you ride on Goodyear tires in the presidential limousine. If there were an alternative, you want those tires swapped out?” asked Fox News White House correspondent John Roberts during a Wednesday press conference.

Trump responded, “Yeah, I would do that. I would swap them out based on what I heard. We’ll see what happens. Look. you’re going to have lot of people not wanting to buy that product anymore. They’ll buy it from a competitor — made in the USA, too.”

Trump’s supporters were being attacked. His supporters in the GY company were basically being told comply or be fired and you must support whatever immorality the company actively supports. Trump was trying to support his supporters’ civil and moral rights in the company....and if GY wants to act anti-american in their policies the why should he reward them with Government contracts? Cooper tires are American made and some foreign businesses make their tires here thus employing Americans. There are American alternatives.

GY’s non-apology apology at least shows that they know they have cooked their own goose. I can believe that the diversity training” slide” didn’t originate from and wasn’t necessarily authorised by the GY high command. It might be more of a case of the Higher ups trusting too much in its HR department to ensure that GY’s diversity and racial hiring bonafides were on the up and up and discovering to their horror that the company’s HR dept. had started a fire that might burn the company down.

Something like that was starting to happen at the Red Bull USA HQ but the wily Austrian owner and Trump supporter caught wind of it and canned the CEO and the Hr Diversity officer and the whole front office and its publicity sections are undergoing a major overhaul. The owner/ top ceo didn’t want another Gillette debacle to happen to his company.

Michelin is a French company - they own BFGoodrich.

Thanks. However, from my research, both have manufacturing facilities in America. Jobs, paychecks, local business success and more jobs. As long as it’s not China, I don’t care where the big bucks go.

Correct. Pirelli also makes some tires in the US.

“Firestone also makes excellent tri-tip sandwiches...”

They do? Do they make other food? There’s nothing like that here on the East Coast I don’t think.

How about waiting until the tires need replacing to switch brands rather than waste taxpayer money on what might be perfectly fine tires?

You don't think Trump will pay for the new tires?

I do.

Hell, I'd contribute.

Mr. President, tell me where to send the check.

“GY’s non-apology apology at least shows that they know they have cooked their own goose.”

I get the sense, from their evolving “apologies”, that they were sincerely trying to ban all political messaging at the workplace. But, as is common with Leftists, they regard their own dogmas as unquestionable, objective Truths, that are therefore not political. It is irrelevant to them that the majority of Americans might not share their notion of “truth”.

All the jobs that depend on goodyear will just switch to gy’s replacement.

The demand for tires is fairly inelastic so other companies will fill any supply void.

I was just about to purchase my third set of Goodyear Assurance Comfort Tread tires. They just lost another customer here.

Oh they are just playing CYA. You better believe that was approved by corporate. These type of training programs always have someone from corporates hand in them from start to finish. This way someone from corporate can always have a huge attaboy from the higher ups.

Cooper is in Ohio too, so this won’t necessarily have political consequences.

I heard that Goodyear stock has already taken a hit, and they are trying to “clarify” their position.

Yeah. The "clarification" is that the screenshot we've all seen was not an official company document nor official HR policy (which is the Clintonesque way of saying the consultants they paid for came up with it).

Bingo. It may have been conceived by consultants, but nothing like that gets communicated to the troops unless the top brass have signed off on it.

The only point I was trying to make is that from time to time the Presidents rush to attack has more negative unintended consequences than positive.

Nope. The negative unintended consequences come when he tweets that he's going to do something but fails to follow through (I'm declaring ANTIFA a domestic terrorist group, etc.)

Excellent, excellent point.

Many businesses bar all political expression on clothing so as to avoid any arguments or discord at the worksite. Where Goodyear screwed-up is that they are either so terrified of Black Lives Matter (or so politically correct that they refuse to see that they are political) that they exempted them from the ban.

Policy consistency is HR 101 and Goodyear had to have hired some real idiots to let this happen.

Idiots? no of course not.

A zealous panicked highly motivated HR woman developed the slide and probably the policy. She was no idiot. She knew exactly whta she was doing.

She is following the lead of Barack Obama to destroy the Trump Presidency and patting herself on the back

It is people like her who must be destroyed. There can be no unity, no coexistence. They must be cancelled

You can't be in support of the police (Blue Lives Matter) and support black lives matter. The BLM website calls for defunding police.

Black lives - exclusive.
All lives - inclusive.

The cancer in EVERY organization is the department of diversity.
