Trump Says Goodyear Tires Will Be Removed From Presidential Limousine, Doubles Down On Boycott

President Donald Trump said that he would “swap out” Goodyear tires from his presidential limousine nicknamed “The Beast” after earlier calling for the company to be boycotted.

“On the Goodyear issue, you ride on Goodyear tires in the presidential limousine. If there were an alternative, you want those tires swapped out?” asked Fox News White House correspondent John Roberts during a Wednesday press conference.

Trump responded, “Yeah, I would do that. I would swap them out based on what I heard. We’ll see what happens. Look. you’re going to have lot of people not wanting to buy that product anymore. They’ll buy it from a competitor — made in the USA, too.”

While I doubt it is illegal, it, just in my humble opinion, shows a certain disregard for the people that depend on Goodyear for a living in these trying times. Also his jump to strike back at a publicly traded company put a hurt on their investors and stock holders.

I will still show up and vote against every Democrat on the ticket, but to be honest things like this work towards diminishing my enthusiasm about voting “for” him again.

Goodyear has a chance to make amends.

1. Fire everyone associated with that slide -- the person who wrote it and everyone who presented it without complaining. And their chain of command right up to the top.

2. Big contributions to Blue Lives and All Lives.

3. All company uniforms have "All Lives Matter" on them for a year.

4. Provided security so that rioters do not have a chance to demonstrate against their amends.

I have worked for companies that went out of business. It is a problem, but stupid mistakes at the top have consequences.

For all season tires Michelin tires were rated, by testing, tops of all of others. General Tire (US Made) was only slightly below them.

Goodyear was way down the list.

Thank you. I am sorry for the curt reply but I seriously don’t see any upside of our President calling for a boycott of any publicly held and traded manufacturer. I haven’t been able to find the number of stockholders but I am sure it is plenty and along with Goodyear’s 62,000 employees there is more than likely a large portion of them who support(ed) Mr. Trump.

The only point I was trying to make is that from time to time the Presidents rush to attack has more negative unintended consequences than positive.

The Republic is in a fight for it’s very life and forays like this into striking back at some HR jerk employee and manager is ... well lets say I don’t believe it was not well thought out and totally unnecessary.

But hell who am I? Just some mid 70 year old man way out here in the bleacher seats.

They threw in that line to mislead everyone. Their own spokesperson confirmed that the slide represented their policy, and it has their corporate logo on it, and it was shown in their offices. Their Twitter statement seems like a statement drafted by their legal team. While it may well be true that it wasn't "created or distributed" by "Goodyear corporate" it was clearly created and distributed by somebody paid by Goodyear, either an employee or a contractor, who was working at Goodyear's direction, in a Goodyear facility. So a less misleading statement by Goodyear might be "we didn't create it here at the corporate offices, instead we paid a contractor across the street to do it for us since we don't normally make our own slides, and then the training people we have on our payroll showed it to our employees."

It isn't just political discrimination. It is flat out racial discrimination which is already illegal. How is it possible that banning statements on racial equity, their allowed topic, that relate to races other than "Black" does not create a hostile work environment. Just imagine if some company said you can wear a shirt that says "All Lives Matter" but you can't wear a shirt that says "Black Lives Matter".

Nobody would think that was acceptable and the DOL and DOJ would be filing lawsuits the next day.
