They put new mandates on us about how to behave, what to wear, how we are billeted, only crews already exposed to one another are supposed to work together. I exposed myself hoping to get sent home.

Everything is compromised by the COVID pandemic. Teachers totally want to get back to teaching in person if they can be sure it is “safe”. Unfortunately, it can never be completely safe while COVID exists. I feel like I am alone within a mass delusion. People wear masks, avoid other people, take each others’ temperatures, use hand sanitizer, wipe down surfaces, put up plexiglass walls, all because they might catch COVID.

But what will happen if they catch COVID? Of course! They will die! But they won’t die. The odds of dying are 1/2 of 1 percent if you are diagnosed, 1/8000 if you don’t get a positive diagnosis, of course 0 if you get a negative diagnosis. The odds of getting covid are 1 out of 40, just to catch it, chances of dying 1/20, if you do catch it. Numbers based on 8000 homeless people in San Francisco, 200 positive tests, 1 fatality.

1 chance out of 40 to win any prize, and 1 of 8000 of winning an upper-tier cash prize, nobody would buy a lottery ticket with odds like those.
