A born and bred New Yorker has laid bare why the city will never recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, a dark week of looting in June and its ongoing struggle against escalating crime, homelessness and violence.
James Altrucher, who co-owns a comedy club in the city and also describes himself as an angel investor and author, is among the many who have fled New York City.
He and his family fled to Miami after the June riots and looting made them fear for their lives and their children's safety, when people tried to break into his apartment building.

The same holds true for muslims migrating to the US instead of leaving behind what they ran away from, as they want to continue with he same crap here in the US or any other host country. And of course the same holds true for many escaping California and bringing along their socialistic ideas and then try to implement them wherever they may end up. And heaven help anyone who dares to speak up against it. Which ever way you may want to twist and turn it I just don’t foresee any good outcome. Most humans just happen to be very slow learners.
And if you look at those mayoral candidates waiting in the wings, they are just as commie and activist, if not more so, than the current DumblASSio--who is grooming his grifter lesbian wife for political office. First Borough President, then mayor, that's his plan. She's nothing but a common thief with absolutely no background or experience to hold any office. So don't hold out any hope for any sort of conservative, sensible mayor for at least a couple of elections, at the minimum. A lot more damage to be done first to NYC.
Depends on whether the company retains a NY office. If you have nobody in your NY office because they’re telecommuting, there’s no need to have an NY office. You just move any support functions to NJ or CT and you’re good to go.
Tge pepole who sign the checks are decamping. The ferals are going to HAVE to follow...or turn on their enablers...
Starting to think this all planned - push people out of the city, so you friends can buy up property on the cheap, then someone else get things back to normal.
In the long run that will certainly happen but it will take a bit of time before such company inertia is changed. I’m just hoping for any countervailing force which keeps them there:)
I read this article the other day. I think it is excellent writing. I enjoyed it very much.
Obama is the community organizer. This is his baby
The marxist mayor will turn NYC into a mini Venezuela.
U-Haul is a very good indicator of sociatal decay. Trips out of NYC, Chicago and LA are very expensive.
Kind of like the Waffle House index after a hurricane. If the Waffle House is shut down, it is really bad.
Read in full on Rush today.
South Florida was America once.
And prospects for NYC were much bleaker in 1977.
Just saying you never know what will happen in the future. Nobody could have predicted Rudy Guiliani getting elected mayor back then, for example.

Agree. There is no other logical reason. Make it a shit hole with only shit hole people that will vote to keep him and Cuomo in power forever.
Then their foreign friends, Chinese?, get to buy up the city dirt cheap.
Babylon the Great is fallen?
Most of these liberal progressive blleding heart elitists who are now running are the reason for this idiot running the city into the ground
No few companies have moved IT support functions out of NYC to surrounding areas (or even out of the area entirely) in the wake of 9/11 - the current pandemic will hopefully accelerate that.
I am of Robert Heinlein’s opinion - NYC and the other coastal cities are far too concentrated and vulnerable targets for our enemies. We *need* to decentralize from them, and now the technology not only exists for work from home but the deadwood older management cannot deny that it works any more.
That plan often backfires badly. See Detroit.
